Tuning a stock G8 GT
I am interested in getting a dyno tune for my dad's 09' G8 GT. Particularly hoping to improve the intelligence of the transmission on downshifts. It really struggles to choose which gear it wants to grab, I assume due to the six speed automatic. I have seen graphs showing 20 hp/tq gains on a stock G8 GT as well.
I am curious what results others have seen in regards to hp/tq, shifting intelligence, fuel mileage, and lastly effect on warranty if brought to GM for service.
Thanks!

There is alot of power and drivability to be gained from tuning the G8. The trans tune makes a huge difference. Many companies offer stealth tunes that are supposed to be undetectable by the stealership. After getting my G8 tuned I cant imagine driving one without a tune. I recomend headers and an intake as well. With those mods his G8 should be around 350rwhp and way more fun to drive.

If he doesn't plan on any major mods then buy a Superchips Cortex tuner. It provides multiple types of tunes depending on mods (stock vs cold air), octane (87/91/93) and enables you to fully reprogram the trans (shift firmness for upshifts/downshifts and shift points). You can also raise the rev limiter and top speed limiter.
The best part is you can flash back to stock prior to a dealer visit. I have one with a Vararam cold air and power is up ~40rwhp. At WOT my car chirps 1-2nd & 2nd-3rd

I'll 2nd that also......And as far as the warranty is concerned if its something minor the dealer usually doesn't say anything but if its a major repair they will more than likely deny your claim if you installed a tune......My car won't even idle on a stock tune...LOL
You need to put some DRs on that car !!!!
