I love my 2000 Grand Prix GTP. Comes from the factory with a M90 sitting on top of the strongest V6 ever built. With a few "cheap" mods and dropping a few pulley sizes, you have a solid 13 second car. With an intercooler and a built trans you're into the 12s. My only problem with the car is that it's a 4-speed auto. While this is great for traffic, I miss the 6-speed in the Trans Am. It's also front wheel drive, so it's good for snow, but it eats front tires if you drive it like you stole it.

lol...lived here for 18 years, first in HoCo with my parents, now in PG in my own place. I'm right off of 197 (Laurel-Bowie Road) by the Home Depot, so it's quiet and I've no problems with anyone in my neighborhood. As long as I don't have kids (school system), I'm good here.

That area can be good and bad. But i still now prefer MoCo. And PG county schools are ****. I went to Roosevelt when it wasnt that bad and taught there later as a sub and it was worse then when i went. So a constant downhill fall for them.

Then again they elect the wife of the previous corrupt council member.... What do they expect?

My brother is a little farther down 198 but I dont make it out there often. Well not in the V anyway.

That is the truth man, just graduated from Bowie High School last month, been in the PGCPS system since 7th grade. I would personally never send my kids to any school throughout this entire county.

To the original topic, I daily drive my SS, while I do like it, if I had the option not to do so, I probably wouldn't. If I had to buy a new car to takeover the daily driving duty, I would go ahead and look into buying either a clean 98-04 Cadillac STS or 00-05 Deville. A good friend of mines has a Black '04 Deville, very comfortable car and it rides excellent.

The mentioned cars can be had for a reasonable price nowadays, gas mileage isn't exactly bad with either of them and both of them are Cadillac's after all so you know driving one would be like riding on a cloud, the power isn't bad with either of them from what I've read. Don't know too much about reliability problems with the Northstar's in the FWD platform's, however if I recall correctly, they do have a few common problems which would be something to consider looking into.

If you want a Northstar it's advisable to go with at least an '01. They were notorious for head gasket issues in the late 90s and GM redesigned the head bolts in mid '00, which helped improve the sealing. Otherwise it's mostly small stuff, I've had the crank position sensors go, a coil cassette, EVAP purge solenoid, and a door module in the course of 4 years.

FYI in 2003 the STS's had magnaride, which is a nice feature. It was GM's test bed before rolling it out to the Vette.

The Skys have softer suspensions. Solstices have stiffer. They are nice rides, not a big pain on a long drive. Not a good choice to DD as there isn't much room to carry stuff. Completely awesome in turbo trim.
I would not reccommend as a DD at all only due to taking stuff with you. You'll face that problem with any 2-seat roadster, just not the Sky/Sol twins.

You are in MD and I am still kinda on the Legacy forum(legacygt.com). Always find guys sellign theirs. If not annapolis subaru is normally a good stealershit to go to.

All I can say is go drive one. Just dont shift it like an american car or like an evo... No lift shifting and subaru doesnt go together. Otehr than that they are GREAT cars.
