Default Anyone have a portable wideband?

Hey guys,

I put a cam and header in my cts-v this weekend. I did not have a bung for the wideband so I am running a rich tune right now.

Does anyone have a portable wideband near Boston Ma. that I can use to tune my car with?

Thanks,

brendan

You will still need a bung for a portable wideband. What tuning software are you using?

what he said ^ still need to either add a bung or temporarily replace a post cat 02 with the wideband for WOT tuning unless you use a tailpipe clamp which is not very accurate....

you say your running a rich tune , dont be so sure - when wot you cant trust the narrowbands if your basing it on them or commanded afr's

you can get a decent wideband for a couple hundred bucks

Copy that. My friend is tuning it so I am not which software is being used.

We have not seen any knock, but I will stay out of WOT and high revs to stay on safe side for now.

I have a LC1 wideband with a db9 gauge, but the pacesetter headers did not have a second bung for the wideband so I did not put it in. I will have an extra bung welded in and hook that up.

Thanks,

One more question. How inaccurate is it when you mount the WB on the tailpipe?

I do not tune off the tailpipe.

Put your wideband in one of the rear 02's

to accurately answer that question one would have to run both an installed wb close to the source and another being monitored simultaneously clamped to the tailpipe to calculate the spread between them

. I have read posts elsewhere saying 1/2 point or so off (AFR) but the real problem is you cant tune in real time from that far back due to the lag time for the exhaust to make it that far back , now at steady rpm & load I would imagine they would be pretty close but most of the time when you have a "condition" that your trying to solve through tuning its during transition - entering PE , going from open into closed loop , etc... lag would not be your friend at those times.

With the pacesetter headers there are no more rear o2 bungs, so the only choice for him is to either replace one of the front o2s for tuning or have a bung welded either in the header collector or right after.

And to answer your question, hp tuners will be used to tune on the street.
