I was reading on Mdshooters the Town Hall Meeting recently held in Baltimore City on public safety did not go well for Lt Gov Brown and the Mayor. Mostly the whole crowd there, black/white, male/female, were all opposed to all this legislation. Brown knew almost nothing about the legislation when confronted with questions. This is encouraging but we need to keep up the pressure. I think they thought Balt. City would be a safe anti gun location to hold this and it backfired. They like to pretend that there's an overwhelming majority in favor of more legislation but the opposite seems to be true. Can't wait for the 6th. ![Happy](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_stretch.gif)

It's getting VERY bad out there...the crap NY state passed last week (7 round magazine limits!
) was clearly the work of an irrational madman (aka: Andrew Cuomo).
Please don't forget all of this if/when this clown runs for president in 2016.
True dat.
I hope these policymakers know exactly what they're doing with this ****.
Over 280 million firearms in the hands of over 90 million angry U.S. citizens, I'd have to highly recommend NOT pissing them all off too much.![Winky](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_wink.gif)

so technically from a legal stand point police and other professions carrying weapons with more then 7 rounds are in violation of the law.

On a separate note. what does limiting rounds per magazine do? nothing really reloading a magazine takes a few seconds. but lets not forget that in the movie theater shooting the shooters "HIGH CAP" magazine jammed. also in new town the shooters "High cap" magazine jammed also.
Higher cap mags are more prone to jam. just saying.

People in MD have lived so long with the government in their day to day lives, they forget how to act.
Down in TN where I lived there were probably some of the nicest LEO's I've ever encountered, very Andy Griffith-esque. Then I come up here and they ride through my sisters apartment complex scanning plates and setting up "checkpoints" to try and pop people for anything they can.
The only thing that scares me more than a man with a gun is a man with a badge.

I have a handgun and both my mags are 15 rounds. I would not have a problem taking them my 15 round mags to get the 10 rounders!
I dont really see an issue with what is being proposed! Something needs to be done about all these school,School bus shootings in the country. There were 6 school shooting in the US in the month of Janurary!! Thats just insane. If we dont change the input how do you exspect the output to change? I am willing to be a bigger person and give up some of my freedoms and rights in a chance that my daughter will have a safer life. Thats the way I look at it. I am not going to be the ones who say I already dont follow the laws so nothing is gonna change with me, or I dont want them to have a list of what I have so when they come to my house I can blow them all away.. Thats just stupid. I am sure when our nation was 1st started they were not exspecting that there would be a school shooting every week or that there would be over 300,000,000 living in this country.
Crime will always be there. I feel safer with my handgun no matter if it has 10 or 15 rounds. I have friends that have 20 or so AR 15's and AK 47's and they say its for there protection!! They also say let the gov try to come and take them away from them..
These are not Criminals that are shooting our children in schools, these are Mentally ill people who have no arrest records, or kids and in some cases 6 yrs old who go home and take there parents legally owned gun to school and shoot other kids.
So what would ya'll do if you were the Gov?

Unfortunately I swore an oath to protect the Constitution way back when from all enemies both foreign and Domestic. So it pains me greatly to see my government attacking my Constitution, and I try not to think about it too much because frankly it is a moral dilemma on my part.
Hundreds of thousands have died to protect these freedoms, and to freely give them up is a slap in the face to everyone who has served.
Honestly, if it came down to the government asking me to turn in my weapons, I would. Then I would hop a plane to my girls home country in Europe. I have no interest in sticking around for the "growing pains" that will accompany this once-great nations eventual fall into socialism. I'd rather go somewhere that figured socialism out 20 years ago, pay my 60% tax rate, and grow old until their understaffed hospitals kill me off.

What would I do...
1) Start enforcing laws that are already on the books (we have more than enough already)
2) I would enact universal backround checks and strengthen that system. However, once this is done- no more waiting periods/bs roadblocks to get through in order to purchase. 20 min phone call to the FBI, then out the door.
3) What was already done- let the CDC start researching shootings and come up with some common sense/data driven approaches that actually work.
Not this BS knee jerk legislation that does nothing but punish law abiding citizens, simply to make the sheeple feel better. Assault weapon bans and magazine capacity limits do nothing to actually solve the problem, it just gives ignorant people that warm and fuzzy feeling that something is being done.

I served in the Navy for 10yrs and got out back in 2008 after obama won. I didnt want to work for him as he is the top of our chain of command. If you are still in the military then you still work for him as your a Government employee. I could not work for a person who I dont agree with and thats why I got out when I did.
And how exactly is a magazine capacity limit going to stop any of the shootings?

Its sad that we have people on here that claim they dont follow the gun laws already. Thats on a car site, I cant imagine on a gun forum.
What is scary is that there were 6 school shootings ( not including school bus) in the month of Jan. I live outside of Philly and on the news last night they said that the 6th person this year was shot and killed in the city. Philly is the 4th largest metro in the country.
Something needs to be done. We cant just keep on the same coarse.

It wont stop the shootings, but might slow them down some if they have to reload every 7-10 shots as opposed to 15 or more. I am sure a 6-14yr old will have some trouble with reloading mags onsite..

Democracy:
a : government by the people; especially : rule of the majority
b : a government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation usually involving periodically held free elections
If we start creating laws to make people feel better, when the reality of the situation is 99% of gun owners are law abiding citizens, where does that leave us?

Now to offer another flaw in your reasoning. People who do these shootings usually plan and rehearse their actions. They practice and drill reloads. They also commit their crimes in gun free areas where they won't have any resistance and won't be acting under the same stress as the situation above. Look at the Virginia Tech shooting; many of his Glock mags were 10rd mags. Didn't matter. There was no armed resistance, so he had all the time in the world to reload. Also I don't know where you get the 6-14yr old bit. That is not the demographic committing these crimes for the most part.

One thing no one wants to talk about is providing physical security at all public schools.
Nuts and criminals have no regards for established laws, even with the most extreme gun control laws in place, we will have more mass shootings in our school systems. We need trained armed professionals in the schools who can stop an attack when they start. Physical security also provides a strong deterrent, 95% of the shooters are not looking for a fight, they are looking for victims to kill.
Politicians get so wrapped up in the gun control issues, that a comprehensive response to the issue is lost.
It has been almost two months since the Sandy Hook shootings and not one thing has been done to better protect our kids.
When the next school shooting occurrs some fingers should be pointed at the elected officials for failing to act.
Politics are going to get more children killed.
