Default New York, what's the fine for no front plate?

Got nailed for not having a front plate. The ticket says "Less than 2 plates." Not sure if it's an equipment fine which is $90 or something else. Can't find it online and my ticket isn't in the DMV yet. I'm sure it'll be more than $90 with the surcharges.

Rob,

I posted the above link on Long Island Drag Racing recently.
NYS is considering legislation to go to a single rear plate!

a single plate in new york would be awesome im waiting for the snow to stop today (and hopefully for spring to REALLY start) to put my bird filler in. I know a guy who keeps his front plate on a broken mount when he sees an officer giving him a ticket he runs out and explains someone just hit him and broke it get outta it every time

Nah, I got a ticket in the wife's old Monte SS w/ the plate on the dash...it has to be on the outside of the vehicle (or so said the Onondaga County Sheriff). I went home and zip-tied it to the lower grille, went to the OC Sheriff's office and they cancelled the ticket.

A friend has one of those motorized mounts on his Vette that keeps the plate under the front bumper and then when he pushes a button it slides out and pops up...pretty slick.

I've never had a front plate on my GTO or WS6 and have only been pulled over once in the GTO for it...I keep the plate in the map pocket behind the dr. seat. Told the officer I didn't want to drill holes in my bumper and he let me go w/ a warning.

my buddy got one last year (with his father, a traffic attorney) , went to court disputed it and it was thrown out based on the measured height in the front wind sheild and the visibility being sufficient ... this was also onondaga county more specifically clay.... again this was on an fbody not a montecarlo

I never put front plates on my cars. They have gotten me out of a few speeding tickets when the cop was looking for something smaller to give me.

the plate may become a projectile if you keep it on the dash. Just a thought...

NY will never get rid of the front plate. They can make more money by forcing you to buy two at registration time.
