Default Drag strip closing?

I may have been living under a rock, but I just heard 75 & 80 in MD is closing again. Does anybody have any info on this as truth or fiction and details?

Rumor going around the track is, Track will close end of year & be sold off to build houses.

I find that difficult to believe (the house building part) There's plenty of land around there.

Why would a developer pay demo costs, when they could buy raw land.

Nah, the shut down is up hill big time. Then the return road reminds you of a Billy goat trail.

And the tower is a 2 story shed. lol (but it's a fun track)

They closed in 2005 or thereabouts and re-opened in 2009.

Too bad...ran there once. In the middle of a farm, shut down is fun, so is the return road! Nostalgic feel to it i like old race tracks.

I hear there closing and i hear there not closing. The track should really be a historic landmark and it still brings in the cash so I dont understand why they would want to close. They just need somebody in there that can really run it and really bring the track up to its full potential. I hope they dont close. Urbana is already a dump with all its ugly *** row homes. I think i would cry if I drove by the track and it was a bunch of worthless *** stores.
