Moving from FL to NJ and I don't understand inspections
So the title says it all. What do they look for, and what's the bare minimum I need to pass? I have an o/r y pipe which I'm pretty sure is a nono so any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance

If you have no engine light, something that resembles cats and a muffler and the exhaust exits out of the vehicle you will pass. You will pass by deleting codes through hp tuners.

It's really not that bad. For your 2000, they'll do a visual check for cats (tack some heat shields together & call it a day), read the OBDII for readiness, make sure there are no codes, & check the gas cap. It's a 5 minute deal. No more Safety inspection in NJ, it's emissions only.
If you have a 1995 or older, NJ is in the process of getting rid of the inspection all together. A new ordinance was passed in May that said once a 1995 vehicle's inspection sticker expires, they won't need to get it re-inspected.
