If you take an 02 to 04 Z06 and run it with a good driver it will run in the high 11s/low 12s.
All the ls2 vettes that I have seen have only run mid 12s at best.
I dont get it.

Think of this. My 01 ws6 ran 110 mph when it was new and dead stock. Now you factor in the weight difference between my t/a and the c6 and it dont look like its making that much more power.
this is not a flame but I just dont see the big numbers that I was expecting. I would think that 400 hp @ 3250 pounds should be running in the 117 to 119 range.
Your looking at C6 stockers running 12.6's...W/tune, headers, good tires--BANG. They are a full second better. Hell, the cars are just starting to get out there...And comparing them w/a Z06 isn't apples for apples, sorry. Compare the old Z06 w/the new (soon coming) Z06 (or 7, whatever they're calling it). I guarantee the new models will be whipping the older ones, mod for mod. Chevy kinda plans it thay way, you know? WJ

WJ I see what you mean. But can you see what im saying? They just dont seem to be running the mph that I think they should be.
The reason I was comparing them (the Z and C6) is because they weigh about the same, same gear, same hp. But it seems like the Zs run much stronger.

LS1LT1, to bad even the american cars arnt made here anymore!
some of the imports are more american then chery/ford.

I havent driven a mustang i liked. i just think they are to truck like. the seats are high, the shifter/ wheel/peddles are not comfy. they are located in strang locations. i almost got a 99 S281 befor i got my car. it was a white with white convert top, white wheels, and white leth inter. when i drove it, i said NO WAY. it was slower and less comfortable then the TA i test drove the day befor, and 2 times the money.
JMO, but im not a big fan. and power wise, the 5.0 is easy to go fast, but the mod motors

We have to have at least some basic standard to judge by...I simply follow the nameplate:
A Chevrolet/Ford is an American car.
A Honda/Toyota is a Japanese car.
Mustangs are still made here.
Corvettes are still made here.
Trucks are (mostly) still made here.
That's good enough for me.

What do you charge per hour for your labor?

I was union all my life and the most I made was 23-24 dollars an hour.

What kind of benefits do you provide? 401k? Medical? Dental? Retirement?

Unions were necessary due to business owners exploiting cheap labor.

I truly believe that the US (if it paid less attention to profit margins) would still be making Camaro's and Firebirds.. and put out a better product.

Many of the Suburbans and Chev-GMC stuff is being put together in Mexico now. Also, believe there's a couple of GM engine plants down there, as well... Wonder what GM is paying the Mexican people to build our stuff.....They're making up for the union wages they're paying in the States---You can bet on it.... WJ

Since i have to take a business course this semester got this little tid bit of someone useful/useless information depending on how you look at it. 80% of what we doin in the United States now is services. 20% of what we do is manufacturing.

The reason is exactly what Noyzee said. Our unions want more money but we dont want to pay 50-60K for a car like an F-body. So what do we do? Ship it over seas where it costs less to make and ship it back.

Even the plants that we have here just manufacture the cars but a good amount of the parts being used to build these cars are being built oversea's.

Bottom line is if we really want to start manufacturing the cars in the US again we can. Just good luck convincing the 250+ million people in the United States that they have to pay an extra 20+ thousand dollars for their car. That....I dont think it would go over that well lol

our 18-30 dollar an hour guys make 58 an hour when we do a rate job!!
our helpers who make 9-12 or so an hour make 36!!!!!!!
thats a rate pay for a union sheetmetal mech and a laboror. its rediculos. a plumber gets over 60!
Thats in Boston and surounding cities. move closer to NH ect, and your looking at about 1/2 that

I knew a guy that was beat up just because he was working to fast, and the other union members didn't want him to ruin their easy ride. The way union people see it is maximum pay for minimum work. They even make bullsh#t hollidays so that they can take more time off work. I wonder what is more ridiculous, union wages, or the fact that they actually think that their employees are working to potential.

IN short, unoins will finish killing what is left of the United States.
