I hate to say it but the new Mustangs look pretty damn good and if GM doesn't get their head out of their *** and give us a new Camaro (Not a Chevelle) I would (pause as a take a charge of my bud light ) buy a Mustang over a GTO (ugly, heavy and overpriced).

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!

You must be smoking some serious crack if you think that. If I couldn't get a (new) 03 cobra for less than 33995 (NEW, when they first came out), than you SURE AS HELL aren't touching one of these. Consider 3% inflation and you are already PAST 35k, than consider the new whipple twin screw charger, and the "limited" new cobra, and you are approaching a tad OVER 40k MSRP.

With dealer mark ups, they WILL hit 50k. How do I know this?? Well, just wait untill they come out and say, "Damn, you were right about the price!"

I would also say the price will be in the high $40,000 for a coupe.

If it's 35k then I'm off by 1k.. but you can't control what sleazy dealers will do.

I was stating that with appreciation ALONE the price would be over 35k. The actual price will be more or less a tad OVER 40k msrp for the coupe. I honestly don't think they have plans of making a vert, although, that would be in the mid 40's.

Then you get into how much the 04 regular Vette's are costing in 2007. Don had drag radials and a Z06 caback and was low 12's if I can remember. A 03 vette wouldnt even be 40k in 2007.

It'll be interesting to see what they do with the weight of the Cobra. Even if they kept the same power train and dropped the weight of the car it would be alot quicker. Ford needs a car between the Mustang and that badass GT.

Did you say DROP the weight of the new cobra .

FWIW, the 03/4 cobra's weigh about 400#'s heavier than the GT's. With the 5.4 32vavle motor, it's going to add a couple of hundred pounds to the front of the new cobra right from the get-go.

Check out some of the OFFICIAL press releases, as they are now out. It is a 450hp/450tq 5.4 32valve twin screw at 8#'s.

This JUST IN...

Ford stated that the BASE PRICE of the 07 Cobra will be 39950.

If some people honestly thought they could get an 07 cobra for under 35, they were out of their damn minds!

EDIT: Just a reminder...it has the "Shelby" name on it, which will at LEAST raise the price 10grand in the showroom. I EASILY suspect prices to reach mid 50's.

I like the new shelby mustang but @ $40000 plus a markup of about 5 grand I think I will stick to my plans and get an 02/03 Z06 (about 30 grand) and do the boltons and tires and run high tens.

I will put money on it that within 1 month after they hit the streets there will be a Shelby in the tens.

I love the Shelby Cobra, but lets talk money. Shelby 07 40k plus CT tax and dealer porking 45,000.00 If i managed to sell my car and put down 15k I have 30k car loan.
30k @ 5.25 % 60 months = $570.00 . Now car insurance $200.00 per month+/-
Now if you drive the car only 1/2 of the year (summer car) and average 300 miles per week. Say 20 gallons per week.@26 = 520 gallons @ 3.00 per gallon premium gas 1,560.00 per year gas $130 per month. Now for the freaking property tax of $800.00 year $66.00 per month. Net cost $1000.00 per month. My combined AGI is over 100k plus and this is just to much money. Maybe, if i was single and living alone i could buy this car.
