Default so i think i'm going to do it..

I've been thinking hard, and it looks like I'll be putting my 2 weeks in at my bartending job. I had this whole weekend off (finally) and I realized how much fun I am missing out on. I already work 40 hour temp job for the summer and then i work an additional 20ish hours at the bar, on saturday from 10am- after midnight (not to mention i drive an hour one way to get there during the summer)...i miss having saturdays off. i figure i'll try to find something else in the hartford area when school starts back up in aug. Sorry for the ranting, but I am extremely excited about this!

Youre gonna miss the extra money for sure but I guess ya cant have both . I have weekends off at my job and I really could use the money from a 2nd job but its hard to pass up free time.

yea.. i thought hard about that but then i realized i am 19 and have my whole life to work when i get out of college. enjoying the weekends means more to me then the extra money. hopefully i'll end up finding another bartending job in the fall that pays better

Sounds like you got urself a plan for the summer....I agree with what you're doing. **** I am 27 and HAVE to have my weekends off. You only live once and there is way too much going on in the summer to be missing if you're stuck at work. Enjoy life, it's way too short to not live it to its fullest!

yea, i'm going to take a hit not working there, especially during school but its worth it to not have the extra stress. im just nervous to do it since it will put my boss in a difficult position.. oh well

You could just tell him you want weekends off or you quit

I used to worked every day, never had weekends off, full time as a busser, at the busiest restaurant in Destin, FL (THe Back Porch) while going to college full-time, commuting 52 miles one-way to go to school, 4 days a week, for 6 years.

The moral: I didn't let myself have time to make friends nor hang out in Panama City during spring break (one hour away from me). Take time to enjoy youth, and make friends - money and a good job can't always make you happy

I work every day open or earlier to close at my families store and it sucks. 60-70+ hr weeks blow. And the worst part is that you cant just call in and say Im sick or not going to come in when your father is the boss and you live 400 feet from work
