Yeah it seems I see "Slowhawk" in everybody's signature on this section of the forum. However, driving the car all the way to MA, dropping it off and than driving back to pick it up doesn't make much sense for just a cam install. Hopefully I can find someone local. Really looking for a good backyard mechanice, ya know like the guys with the signatures that say "Need something installed, PM me" (seems like they are always west coast & southern guys though) that can do just as good a job at a considerably lower rate than the shops. I'd prefer a shop, just that money is super tight b/c I just bought a house a month ago.

Just remember the backyard guys have your car with no insurance and no work guarantee...
If you want it done right, and guaranteed, our cam installations run $450 on f-bodies with valvesprings/retainers/seals/cam installed. If you are looking for parts, we have numerous packages on our website.

you definetly get what you pay for and id rather save a few more months then risk someone that you dont really trust or know the backround. the shops do it day in and day out . would you bring a caddy to a toyota dealer? i wouldnt .
slowhawk from dezracing does phenomal work and decent price too
TTP does great work and has proven there setups numerous times
eastside is also skilled in the ls1 engines
also dont forget to include the tuning or you wont get the full potential of the cam
alot of people forget that aspect

Yeah I guess you guys are right, just wanted to enjoy the cam before the summer/fall is over. Yeah I did figure in the tune, which is why I don't really have anything left over for the install, lol.

Take a change of someone really messing up your motor for a few bucks, it's not worth it in my eyes.

What happens if an average backyard mechanic does it and forget's to tighten a critical bolt? Bye bye engine. That's why shop's are the best and $450 is cheap.
