Default Got a little problem.

So I hooked my car up to the computer was wondering why im running low numbers on the dyno. Well either cats are clogged or 02's after the cats are screwing up. But its prob my cats screwing up my 02's. Not a big deal im in the process of switching ypipe and cats anyways. But was wondering about my timing. Max reached was 29deg but it also said it was reading -5deg knock retard. What kind of power is that pulling. And what is usual timing numbers.

holy **** you got enough timming there? I would say 34 deg is just bit much :JEST: I like mine around 28

what system are you tunning with?

I just plugged into obdII with a hand held, I forget the name of the hand held but New England dyno let me use it to check what the computer is reading for s.e.s. codes they said it was like $3k so be carefull. It shows all kind of stuff that the computer is reading. "I was wondering why my car was a dog". The timing that is in the car was what i bought it with "nothing i have done". as far as i know it hasnt ever been tuned or anything. Also showed that my front 02's were fine but the 02's after the cats were all off, showing all kind of different numbers none consistant. But my cats are prob throwing those off. Once i figure which combination of headers ypipe im goin with ill getting everything tuned in. Should be able to fix it then. Or is this a problem that needs to be delt with asap.

Probably nothing wrong with the Cats. The rear O2's are probably bad. That will retard the timming. You can replace them ( $60 ea. although they will go out again) Get O2 sims ($50), both easy to install or get the cat tunned and delete the rear O2's.

A lot of times you will get that code after adding a cat-back exhaust.

I would PM Slowhawk, or call Dez Racing in Seakonk MA for a tune.

actually it's a good chance it's your cat's. some car's have had problem burning up the cat's quickly. my car did in under 30k I sloved my problem by deleting the codes and cutting the cat's though.

if you need some 02 sims, i have a set i took off my car that i used before getting it tuned. They worked great, if your interested pm me and we can set something up.

Ditch the Corvette MAF and put a screened stocker back in.

Pull some timing and see if the knock stops.. who did your tune?

I doubt it is the cat's,just the rear 02's.

2nd- Your mass air meter is reading wrong.Probly because the wires in it are dirty from filter oil which put's you into a higher timing--reading less load.

Delete those O2's and get a stocker MAF- less headaches.

Can I clean the wires in the maf somehow. I dont have a stock maf.

The MAF calibration is THE most important part of a tune.

The computer will not be able to read the proper "V/E" or "LOAD" and this will negatively skew all the other associated table.. base fuel.. timing.. etc.

With the stock tune, a stock MAF is more than adequate.. I recommend you get a new FACTORY MAF, pull the fuses to delete the PCM's memory, and then put some miles on the car-then re-dyno.
