The curse of Arod remains.......lol...Seattle got better when he left....the Rangers got better when he left...and the Yankees aren't going to win for the second year he's been here....I dunno for 25MILLION per year I would hope the guy could hit in a divisional series

Yankees sucked all season. They came back at the end to take the division, due only to the redsox injurys in the pitching staff.
Go White Sox!

But overall this was certainly a disappointing season and I wasn't expecting them to make the World Series because they're too inconsistent, their bullpen is a huge question mark (other than Rivera, of course), and they have absolutely no clutch hitting.

Yeah well they lost. Almost came back in the top of the ninth. Sadly our teams 25 million dollar player grounded into a double play for the first 2 outs. Even if he had struck out I think they still would have had a better chance. Because the giambi comes up....the runner would have taken 2nd of a no decision.....giambi bloop hit runner on 1st and 3rd giambi takes second.....Sheffield got the hit to figgins which would have loaded them up with 1 out. Granted Matsui hit the grounder to erstad that still would have been 2 outs with 1 run in 5-4 and the pressure on the angels to hold off the yanks. I think it would have went a different route and different outcome if arod did something more

Well the yankees, and the red sox for that matter, both lacked a go to pitcher for an assured win. When the yankees were winning world series' a few years back they did it with pitching, not hitting, and they always had at least one lights out pitcher who could come in and win a game (clemens, mussina, pettite). Same with the sox last year, they had pedro and schilling, both who could come in under pressure and toss a shut-out to win a big game. Neither team had that guy this year. Johnson wasnt top form all season, mussina struggled, and the rest of the guys (pavano, wright, etc) were either hurt or didnt perform. Plus, you cant rely on small and chacon, neither who are big time pressure pitchers, to win you a world series. Sox had the same problem, no go to guy. Schilling was off and on all season and everyone else was mediocre. Clement was lights out until he got smashed in the dome with a line drive, then he just was plain terrible. Both teams survived due to their hitting abilities, but still their dominant lineups couldnt win for them and its too bad, i would have loved to see a sox/yanks series again this october...oh well next year will be here soon enough!

The 2 best teams in the American League are playing for the AL Pennant. There is no doubt about it. I'm glad it ended up that way this year---it doesn't always happen that way. Sometimes lady luck plays a big factor--this year she didn't....I'm going w/Angels pitching. WJ
