bad news, need your support
my mom has been at a hospital in FL for a month or so now, getting treatment for an ongoing illness that she's had for a long time. she was just admitted to the ICU last night because of internal bleeding due to a complication of her condition. she is listed in critical condition.
right now, i'm just sitting at work, trying to keep my composure, waiting to hear back from my dad with a status update... i may need to get on a plane on very short notice. i'm kinda concerned that i havent received a call yet, but he said i'd be the first person to know what's going on after they tell him, so i'm hoping the doctors have everything under control.

It is difficult. It is hard to decide whether or not you should get on a plane this second. If you go and have to come back and then have to fly down again that is something to consider. If possible fly down and see her right away. I heard that JetBlue just started flying nonstop to a few airports in Florida, it may be the best rate you can find.
Sorry to hear, good luck.

i just spoke with my dad, and they were able to stop the bleeding and stabilize her. she is still in 'critical' condition, and is incomprehensible. if she remains stable for 48 hours, they will have the go-ahead to operate. the operation will take 15 hours to complete once they start it.
my father and sister are on their way to the airport now, and i'm working on getting on a plane later today.
this royally sucks... i do not handle hospitals well, and i will be absolutley useless there. but this is one of those times when you just have to suck it up and play the cards you are dealt.

just spoke with my father again... they told me to not even bother to go down there, because by the time i got there, it would be too late. thats why i was delaying... its not that i didnt want to go down there instantly, but they kept telling me to stand by. they were hinting at the reality, but just didnt want to say it until they knew for sure. they are keeping her hooked up to the machines until my dad gets there. i will be needing to come back home in the next couple of days. i just talked to her a couple days ago, so she went from being fine to being critical overnight. i would like to think that there was no suffering.

Yeah same here. They sent my dad to a rehab and then back to the hospital the same day. That's the last time I talked to him. I told him i'd be down on wednesday to see him on monday and he died on tuesday. I wish I went down to see him earlier. Matt my prayers are with you and your family.
