Default High Mile LS-1s ???

Who here has a LS-1 with high miles on it?? I have seen a couple with the miles getting up there. 100,000 + and was wondering if they develop any kinds of problems to be on the look out for??? I picked up a 100% bone stock, one owner 98 Z-28 and am amazed at how nice, fast, tight this car is..car has 142000. and feels/acts much younger...

ya there are a bunch of high mileage ls1's out there that are still running strong. do a search and u will find a lot of them. mine only has 65k and literally just broke in. i bought it at 42k and 2 years have put 23k on it. it was a daily driver before that and wasnt beaten... cant say as much for myself seeing as i take it to the track as often as i can. these are extremely strong motors and with the proper care will last a long time. i saw a motor down at eastside over the summer that had almost 130k on it and spun a rod bearing. car was beaten on since day one, but was maintained. the most important thing with a car especially a high mileage one is maintence maintence maintence! im sure the drivetrain could use a rebuild, but it depends on where u want to go with it. my bottom end is staying stock until 100k and then im doing a forged motor, maybe earlier maybe later depends on where i go with it in the next 3 years and also my financial standing. best of luck to ya

Mine lasted to 102,000 miles. A minor tuning issue did some damage, but that's in the past. It developed some oil consumption around 80K. I had over 500 passes at the track and a little over 250 street races though, so that was a big factor. It definitely would have lasted MUCH longer if I left it alone lol, but who does that. Dropped a forged motor in with nothing but smooth sailing now.

108k on mine and it's still running strong. Can't tell the difference between this one and my old SS with 36k miles.

I just bought a 98 Z28 with 101k... Engine hauls *** but it blew the rear on the way home (I knew it was gonna need to be replaced when I bought it tho, so it wasn't a surprise). Car runs very strong tho.
My buddy's 97 C5 coupe has 81k when he bought it and went til he sold it with 125k without one issue.
LS1s, when cared for, will last a good amount of time.

WOW !!! That one got 188K on it... Do New Jersey dealers have to warrantee a car with that many miles??I think in Mass anything with more than 125K,your on your own... Miles dont seem to bother them, drag racing always breaks stuff..Dont ask me how I know...

i think it's a general rule that any LS1 that is well taken care of will easily go 150-200k even under "stressful" conditions. The GM test grounds have shown they can go 300k.

There's a Statesman in Australia with more than 500,000 kilometres clocked up. Still going strong by all accounts
