norfolk street racing....
just got busted!! big time. there was a local Kroger everyone would meet up at and chill for a little while, then eventually the cops would come and ask everyone to leave... well, theres a long strecth of highway (564) not too far (like ~1 mi away) that is next to a runway, so its long and straight, and people would go out there to run.
well, cops showed up at Kroger, blocked everyone in and gave tickets that varied from tint, to front plate, to exhaust, ect.
then, they were lined up in the bushes and at the end of 564, and a group of 20 or so cars was on the highway, stopped and lined up ready to go. when the lights came on, and the cops flew down from the end of the highway (on the wrong side of traffic) blocking everyone. they were in the bushes in camo and ran up from the side, and came from the back. all the cars were ticketed from drag racing, and everyone there got a ticket and was towed. even passesngers got tickets. supposedly it was in planning for 4-6 weeks.
heres the local news story. ill post pics in a sec.

luckily i stayed home and made it a blockbuster night. but it was a last minute decision, since i normally go out there

the way it normally goes down, is you drive down 564 towards base, and then when it ends, turn around and right before the road gets perfectly straight, there is an overpass. when you hit the overpass, everyone slows down, or stops. then you, hit it. you normally always race away from base, since you can head towards base and see if any cops are waiting, and if not, you turn around and head towards the other direction and run them.
i havent raced there in a while. a few weekends ago i was leaving my ship on my way home for something, and was behind a UC car heading away from base on 564. when i was on my way back to base, i was behind him again, and watched him goto the end of 564, and turn around and head back the other way. so theyve been patroling it for a while, but people havent gotten caught until now.

well, theyve been watching the area for a while. i used to race back there a while ago, and occasionally when im alone ill give the car a little hell (i can hit 150+ and have enough space to coast back down to speed if i choose to), but not lately. they never saw the cars race that night. they stopped on the highway, and lined up to race, and right before they took off, the cops came out.

hahaha my favorite quote from the vid was "Police have been monitoring the racing for several weeks, clocking drivers traveling in excess of 150 miles per hour, so fast, they couldn't even catch them."

Thats an interesting quote.
So they were caught speeding, at a high rate of speed. Yet they didn't crash! So why is speeding wrong?
Couldnt a lawyer have a good argument in court quetioning who is to say what speed is safe, if the cops have already clocked cars going over 150 and no crashs came of it?
