Can any tuners make a house call to Long Island, New York?
I just transplanted an LS1 into a 1981 Trans Am. The engine runs like crap, but I'm not getting any trouble codes. It idles very erratic and stinks from unburnt gas. The only mods are a Bullit cam (similar to LS6 specs), shorty headers, and an SLP Mass Airflow Sensor. Most people are telling me that it's a tuning issue. If any tuners are local and want to make a house call, just give me an idea of how much it'll cost. I can't drive the car anywhere because it is in a project state and is in pieces. I want to solve this running problem though, because it's very frustrating.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I would NOT recommend them, I know about 5 people who have had issues with them.

If the engine was never run, i wouldn't think it would be a problem. I installed a USED LS6 intake that was on a bud's car.(Intake and gaskets must have had at least 60K on them) I replaced every other gasket in the damn car, but for some reason i didn't check the intake gaskets. When i pulled the intake off, sure enough the gaskets were so flat you couldn't tell they were there if you ran your finger over the port. I really felt bad cause Carmen spent so much time trying to figure out what was wrong with my idle, when it had nothing to do with his tuning.

I think that goes with anything, mechanically, everything has to be right before considering a tune, with a conversion there are always issues, leaks all sorts of non-sense. Make sure its 100% before shipping it off. Some shops wont even touch a head ache car, or charge you so much Diag time, you will go broke

I called Vette Doctors today and made an appointment for Feb 22. I explained my setup and modifications. I'm not sure who I spoke to, but he told me to get rid of the SLP MAF and replace it with a stock one. I'll have to get one off of EBay. I'll be interested in seeing if the car runs any better with the stock MAF before having it tuned.

I just ditched the SLP MAF and installed a MAF from an LS6 Vette motor. The car ran amazing as soon as I started it up. But, after about 3 minutes, the problem started again and the idle became erratic. Am I down to a tuning issue now?
