Default Driveable at all?

Ok i know this might sound like a stupid question but I am having a cam installed 230/232 112lsa and longtubes now would I be ok without a stall say for a month? and if so would the car perform better than stock even though it doesn't have the stall? A good tuner should be able to make that pretty tameable atleast for a little while right? There are a few guys saying that I should only really need the stall for dragging and keeping it in the cams power band. Thanks sorry for the useless question just hoping for an outside shot. ps I don't drag much if any at all I've been to the track like twice. Its either cam and longtubes or stall and longtubes.

You should do a stall before a Cam. You will not like that Cam without a stall.

The car would be faster with the longtube's and stall. Do the Cam last.

LOL... I did a cam before I did a stall... have fun droping the car into "N" just to avoide doing a burnout at every stoplight.

Do the stall first... and dont buy a fuddle.

Yeah I heard fuddles aren't too great thinking about yank 3600 however I talked to sean at esp and he said it can be streetable its all in the tune. stock stall is 2100 which is better than the 1800 I believe that came in the ls1 goats.

The car is not going to drive like a POS, its just not going to be optimal. Getting a stall will make it feel more stockish, just with a little bit more power. I always used lower stalls on my LT1. I had a 2000 (stock was like 1200) it felt like stock with the hotcam, I cut 1.7X 60's on nittos. Then I moved to the 2800, it had a lil slip before moving, it was noticable. It really matched well with the bigger cam that was installed later.

Just my opinion in my personal exp.

witha small cam you probably could get away with it, but one as big as you're planning, is not gonna be all too well mannered I don't think.

FWIW, I'd get the converter and do it at the same time as the cam, when you get the car back, with a cam and converter you'll most likly be scared at how much faster it will feel.

Or, do the converter first. Don't skimp on the converter either, you really do get what you pay for with them.

I'm willing to go smaller on the cam, I just want something that will make good power but still keep that distinctive cam idle to it, any suggestions?

I don't know much about auto's but sounds like you'd save yourself some labor possibly if you do it all at once. Save up your money and get it all when you can afford it.

thats the thing thats what I wanted to do but I just got hit with these like 3 bills in the mail so I have to take it out of the 3800$ that I have in the bank not leaving me enough for a stall longtubes and cam. So I have to make a pick I really really want the cam and the longtubes so I was asking to see if there is anyway around the stall with a cam. There is some guy over at ls1gto.com and he said he went with the same cam I'm looking at and didn't run a stall for like 3 months he just said the only difference is it just didn't stay in the cams powerband thats all.

Borrowing money for mods = BAD
You are telling us that you can't afford to get the things you should be doing on your own. Are you gonna borrow money for the payments when you have nothing left from mods? Think this one through. How old are you? You have a brand new car to pay for!

it wasn't much money and it was from a family member. Money isn't a problem I make plenty of it its just that school is coming up and when school starts I will have absoultly no time to bring it to a shop so I'm trying to do things b4 school starts. So is there a cam that could meet my needs or not? f it i'm probably just gonna do it I'll let you guys know.

Alright well I think I might take your guy's advice I am working with a few options here a dry nitrous setup longtubes stall catback ( I want this gto to be louder its not loud enough for my taste will longtubes change that?). And I might as well throw this out there what about a 224/228 111lsa cam? Sorry had to try.

Not exactly what I said but close....If you go with a small cam the car will be streetable but have some drivability issues. Big cam obvisouly would be worse. Ex. 224/228 112+4 you prob. be ok. 232/236 may be a bit big w/ the stock stall. I agree the car will be faster w/ LT's and a stall over A cam and LT's but its all in what you are looking for...A cam is more instant grad so I think that is why people go there first but again like I said it will bring some drivablility issues that can be delt with throught the tune. It will not be perfect w/out the stall but managable....

I see well its not like I'm not ever going to to do a stall, that will probably be added like 1 month after cam, install maybe sooner.
