Default Progress made, pics inside

Welp, Its on, we didn't even wait for the weekend. JL-WS6 and I hammered on the car yesterday and today. I say about 5-6 hours in so far. We took out the rear, TQ arm, DS, and all of the exhaust from Manifold to Tips. The Coil packs sucked ***, I forgot how tight the manifold bolts were. My hands look like I boxed my cat and lost.

Next up is to take the 10 bolt axles out so I can snag the brake hardware and get the bearings pressed on my 33 splined Mosers, I have a poly end links for the rear sway bar on the way. JL got 3 out of 4 o2 sensors, one was seized so I'll order a pair. I hope to get the Dynatechs in this week and get the front buttoned back up.

The rears on LS1's are slightly different from LT1's a little more of a PITA but I made it work.

Here are pics.

I hate doing anything that has to do with a rear. Ever single minute of it. My car has been a pain as far as that goes. But since I put 3.73s in, *knock on wood* I havent had any major issues.

Yea, Ive done the rear end removal and install too many times. It all sucked cus its never been apart. Now that it has, its all good. In the 2 rear end pics next to the LS1 DS is my 3" steel unit, its the same exact size, so I got a indestructible driveshaft all set for the rear. My weak spot will be the clutch. A upgrade is on the horizon but not until I smoke it good.

Also I gotta heat wrap the clutch line and change the fluid, oil change and decide if I am putting new plugs in.

unitl last night, I've never seen an o2 sieze in the exhaust like that.... I'd still try a little heat on it to see if that will work, but I doubt it. When an open ended 7/8 wrench is starting to round the bolt part off... it's safe to say it's not coming out LOL.

BY the end of next week it should be done, as long as all the little **** can get here (new brakes pads/rotors while it's apart, o2 sensor, plugs, wires if you decide to put new ones on.. that type of stuff).

Clutch will be next I'm sure if it and I'm not looking foreward to that one.

I am hoping to have all the little stuff. Since the Dynatech kit is soooo complete I dont need much. I am deciding on plugs and wires now.

If I got a aftermarket plug, it def be NGK, I always used them on the LT1, I was deciding between TR-55's or TR-6's, the car will get a tune, I didnt know with LS1's if it would benefit when you run more timing. Mind you with the LT1 making over 400 flywheel hp and running 44 degrees without KR.

I think I'll do TR-55's with a new set of wires.

JL/BSM, PLEASE let me know if you need brake parts.

I basically have a whole rear brake replacement ready to go in my garage. I will let it go for cheapppppppp. Rotors, and ceramic pads. If you want fronts too while you're at it.. I have that stuff too. Id suggest doing the brake caliper painting too, while you're at it. It just saves you from having/wanting to do it later down the road.

I got wires too, if you want. LOL.

BS machine... that is a good point, if you want to paint the calipers, now would be the time while it's all apart and the calipers are on the floor

Specialized he does need the brakes done, at least the rears do... so I'm hoping you get a PM today about it. On another note, you gonna swing by tonite to talk about that stuff?

I really have absolutely no desire to be painting the calipers, I can do them at any time once the moser is in pulling the calipers off is easy, it just sucked 1st time since all the bolts are uber tight.

If I did them it be black, we could talk about the rotor and pads Special, pm me bout them, are they direct replacement peices, what brand, how much.

that will work. Might even be able to use a 2nd bolt in the uppoer hole of the relocation brackets too, depends if it will hit the lca or not. We;'ll figure something out that wil work until you can get them welded in place. Same with that little bracket the brakes lines were on with, a hole in that rib on the 12 bolt and a small bolt thru it will hold that in place fine too I think.

I will also prob get NGK TR-55's, Bosch bosch part # 13111 o2's they are for vettes but people seem to have good luck due to them heating up quicker, as for wires I may get a set of MSD's

Any reason not to get MSD's over GM z06's They are priced very similar, and I dont have my dealer discount hook up any more
