Just got GPS installed!! 16 of them
Into all my work trucks besides mine and my fathers.
they are sweet. i can see everything. start time stop time how fast they are going, what route, live time updated every 30 seconds everything.
they are sweet!!
and it has milage plotting for records and service, 365 day log for every truck from midnight to midnight!!!
good stuff!!
Over $30,000.00 but it should save us a pile. just in insurance we will be cutting big costs because it is a location device hidden with no trace!
gatta love it.
i know where all 16 of my trucks are right now, and how fast they are going and what street they are on. it will accually tell me house numbers!!!!!

and yes, you are right some guys arnt happy, some guys could give a ****.
the guys that arent happy are the ones that you have to watch.
also, this devise is helpfull to them. proves location, helps them keep track of time, helps them to remember service which they are in charge of.
ect ect, this is a great great tool.
i just got them in today, and i have already had guys ask me if they could borow the truck, or tell me they where stoping at so and so's house on the way home ect ect.
no more crashed trucks in the bar.
good stuff

I agree. Usually when something bad happens when driving a company vehicle, it's not even work-related, but then there are the people who say their privacy is getting invaded when a tracking device is being used, i.e. they think that you don't trust them..... WJ

Hey Brad....be careful. Papa Noyes may tuck one of those trackers in his new Zo6 to make sure you aren't out pounding on it when he's away and it's just sitting out in the garage.... WJ

even proof for the guys when they need it.
so many times i get a call from a PM.
what the ****, your guys arnt here, your ******* guys arnt here. blah blah.
then i call my guys.
what the **** why arnt you at the site!!!!
then i get, Brad, i am. im up in the closet on the 3rd floor running that chase.
then im an *** hole, and the pm is pissed ect.
now the guys have proof.
its great. just found out who is where today so far.
all the guys know they have it in there trucks, and i can promis that 2 days ago i had atleast 3 guys late to a job site.
today, every guy was on time or within 5 minits!!
that right there is
$60 per hour per guy
today i have 13 men working in the feild.
i saved atleast 1/2 hour per guy
that is 6.5 hours times 60 = 390
$390 x 5 days a week= 1950 saved a week.
$1950 a week x 52 weeks a year= $101,400 and that isnt counting the leaving the job site early!!!!
that right there should bring profit and productivity up atleast 3-5%
and with a 1/2 hour per day per man im being very very light.
we did the math befor in a class i took and in most companies our size the 8 hour day a man is paid for is lucky if its 5 hours worth of accual work. so if this saves even just a 1/2 hour per day per man, i just saves 100,000 bucks aka, im getting a new jet ski, and im able to profit share with my guys it is a win win!!

sounds corny, but it is 100% true, and i believe the guys desirve part of the company profit.
as for liking working for a guy like me, its hard to say.
some guys do, and they stay around for a long time.
others leave. however atleast 1/2 of the ones that leave come back begging for there jobs back. the good ones i hire back the bad i dont.
once the good ones are back to work. they stay here for a long *** time.

The only way I could understand people getting upset about it, is if they weren't told that they were being monitored via gps system. But even then, when you are at work, you are being paid by an employer to do what they want you to do. If you're not doing anything wrong, you have nothing to worry about.
At my job, we are going to be testing pharamceutical grade narcotics, and to do so, we will be monitered by video camera. Some people are upset that they are going to be 'watched', but it's part of the job, and mandated by the DEA and FDA. So if you want to work, that's the conditions. It would be a different story if they just installed cameras and never told us.
