Default NY Emissions

I have a 97 z28 and Im going to be putting pacesetter long tubes, pacesetter y pipe with no cats, and a GMMG catback on soon. Im getting the headers with emissions and I will be getting either a pcmforless or madz28 tune and have the rear o2's tuned out. What I need to know is will I pass inspection on Long Island with this setup? Thanks

Without the cat's technically you can't pass.

However, if the car isn't throwing codes- you pass.

That is going to be very loud.. no cat's and a GMMG. Plus- raspy too!

Weld in some high-flo cats and turn off the rear o2's and you should pass no problem. Plus- it won't be as raspy.

car wont pass. Unless you can find some one that will look the other way.

The noise alone would tell them to look under there and see that there are no cats

They are both the same type of muffler- loud, baffled mufflers.

Go to Mufflex in Jersey and have them weld in some cat's and spintechs and then you will get your sticker and not get pulled over as much.

I don't remember the ticket for no cat's in NY.. but I do remember it's a lot.

As long as they don't look underneath you will pass with our tune. We can program it so the emissions test will come up as ready. When the plug in test passes typically they don't have any reason to look underneath.

Disclaimer... Tuning for no cats is intended for off road use only

Now Offically yeah it should not pass anywhere in the state. Here in NY we are supposed to check these items. You are going to have to find a Friendly shop that will pass you. But since the new NYVIP computer came into effect, less shops are doing inspections, and people are having a harder time getting stuff slid through.

Side note I had that setup you are going to be running and I will tell you it will be louder than **** and very raspy.... A moroso sprial bullet muffler in the I-pipe will tone it down a bit. But still loud..

Any question about the inspection I can try and help you. Drop me a PM

John
