Default Cam only LS2 6SP GTO!!!

We just broke the record with our Cam Only Setup
Tony and I been working on his car for weeks now tweeking it and going faster and quicker and we were rewarded last Sun. at Atco...

Temps 55
Baro 29.54
Not killer air but still pretty darn good..

Results
11.80@119 right off the street
Cool down for an 45 minutes
11.64@119 NEW LS2 GTO 6SP RECORD

This was done with a package I thought up that anyone can do with off the shelf parts...The car is FULL weight/FULL interior minus spare/jack and lower engine pan..I've come to the conclusion u dont need fancy stuff to go fast and got away from that thinking when I stopped having fun with Joe Prince,Yea Joe had his moments but when him and I were trying different things we always managed to run pretty well...


I havent seen Joe in a long time (actually would like to see him) but it sure was nice to see Tommy on Sun. and all the other guys there too.

Even though it wasnt my car I have really missed racing
Tony is very happy and we are doing the gears now (3.91) and going back to Atco on the 8th to get this RECORD alittle lower

Once were done with this set of mods,Cary@ET has a nice set of CNC'd 243's for us to try along with a ET ported Fast....

Thanks to Dale Cherry/Slowhawk for some help too

2 questions

What was the 60"?
Can you give us any idea on the size of the cam, I would assume it's on the radical side.

Cam is not too big considering its a 364CI but it does lope hard...
Comp 232-234 595-598 112+2 (pulls real hard right to the shift point 6500)
60FT was 1.64

Hmm, 11.6 @ 119 is the cam-only LS2 M6 GTO record?

That's a great time, absolutely no offense meant, but I'm just surprised that's a record breaking time. These things have been out for 2 years now and I would imagine that 364 can handle a pretty good sized cam; I thought people would be putting down some serious numbers and stats.

Is it the "Full weight" record, or just the record in general? What are the dyno numbers on that thing? Atco is a great track for trap speeds, especially in 55 degree weather .

Well thats the record,its not classified as full weight but we only took the spare/jack and lower splash pan off...Its on 17's all around and all interior,the car weighs 3850+ w/the driver so I dont think thats too bad of an ET....

Hell the A4 record is like 11.25 or something like that?Most GTO guys are not like F-car guys,they dont gut the **** out of there car and throw HUGE 240+ Dur. cams in them with turndowns and 4500 stall

QFT sir, most GTo guys keep their cams in the 23X/23X range (the record was done with an HPE S cam (238/242 i believe) which still isnt HUGE as far as cams go. keep in mind were also running an IRS and cant go as large on the tire as F-bodies can...not to mention the weight difference!

p.s. joel i think its funny that you know joe prince...he's a friend of mine as well (though he hasnt worked on my car) i see him around once in a while. hes off doing other things but still does some port work and engine building on the side, with great results. he hasnt been on the internet in years though so hes not up to date on these off the shelf cam packages that people are building and going fast with.

You and I BS'd about this. A fast GTO is 12s but a really fast GTO is 11s. Fast Fbodies 11s and really fast is 10s.

Weight. IRS. CG. All working against us. That is until we talk road racing.

Yea Tony is real happy with the car.We're addin the 3.91's this week and heading back down on the 8th.Wonder what he'll pick up ET/MPH with the gears?Me myself likes the A4 beter for drag racing but for the street the 6sp is fun,too bad I have the bad left leg or I wouldve bought a used Z06 instead on my GTO.

I"m doing the Vig 3200/shift kit tonight on my car,I tuned it alittle bit this week as it hasnt gotten any A/F tuning yet..Its still rich at 12.1 and I know the car will pick up 15RW just by tweeking the tune.I am also going to play with the PT and RPM based shift points too.

I'm going down with Tony on the 8th too
I wanna try and best my 12.83 with just boltons

Then its cam,ported intake and 3.73 time

Oh, can I get in on the love fest going in this thread. I miss the days from back in 2000 and 2001 when it was just fun to go shoot the **** at the track and nobody cared about who did what. Tommy has the right idea.

Having the little one has put a damper on how often I get out, but I'll stay in touch and try and meet up with you guys one of these weekends.

Anybody know how JP is doing? I hope he and his family are good. I still proudly state that I have JPR heads beacuse I know the effort that was put into porting them as I was there everyday bs'ing with him.

I'm new to Tommy's crowd. FYI this was exactly Atco on 11/25. EVERYBODY was getting around (prolly the ****ing waiting) shooting the proverbial with whoever. I'm usually good with names, but, there were so many that we were asking each other who the hell that was we just talked to!

Isn't that the point? All that shop rivalry is totally counter to it all. Rivalry is good, but when ur a di*k about it?
