Default what should i do guys?

Finnaly got the nitrous in and was about to hit the track and BAM there goes my stall and my tranny.... WTF should i do now? My options are 6 speed swap, or buy a built 4l60e. I am sort of on a budget but i dont want this thing to break again. I only hit the track a few times a year, its more of a cruise occasional show car. I would love to have a 6 speed, but i dont want my quarter times to drop. Anyone have any opinions? Or any places I could buy a tranny that will hold, or somewhere that will do a 6 speed conversion? I have a few bolt ons and a 100 shot, possible cam coming soon.

Your car should have no problem with a basic built tranny and good tune with the nitrous.Probly blew from a wrong tranny tune since it should be different when spraying.

You can try a good built 4ljunkie, but I have seen too many people have too many problems to feel that any of them are really reliable. If you can find one, I'd look for a 4l80 and just bite the bullet. If you can get lucky and find one out of a relativly low mileage truck, a quick freshen up will be all it will need and it will stay together for years and take anything that you want to throw at it.

Make a big upgrade now, spend a little more and never worry again regardless how much powr ya throw at it. If you can afford it, overbuild it...

dont mean to hijack the thread, but im curious. If money wasnt an object, would swapping in a new 6 speed automatic be worth it? Are they any stronger or weaker than a 4l60?

A correctly built 4L60 can easilly handle a mid to high 10 second car for a long time.Transmission tuning has alot to do with it.

If money is an object, then a mild rebuild would definetly be the cheaper way to go. Like others already said, they will last a long time on any fast street car.

This is absolutely true.

I've had my fair share of 4l60E stuff. My advice is to get it built at a repidable local place. FLT is having a sale, they are a good sponsor if you decide to go that route.

They can act a little funky on the spray and like Slowhawk said the tune plays a huge role.

A M6 swap will run you a good chunk of change too. Enough to warrant a 4l80e swap.

BTW if you need another converter asap I got a TCI SSF3500 just sitting around that I'll sell cheap, if your interested.
