Just picked up my 2009 G8 GT!
I've been thinking about getting one since they came out and I saw the employee pricing so I decided to go down to the dealership yesterday. Long story short, I picked up my brand new 2009 G8 GT today. I had 5 miles on it at 3:00 when I picked it up today and when I parked it a little while ago it had 112 miles Loving it so far!
I bought the liquid red with the A6, sport package and 19" wheels.
My only problem is that it rained part of the day and I noticed condensation in the headlights. Anyone else have that problem? I'll call the dealership monday and make an appointment to have it fixed.
My brother took a bunch of pictures of it and he will post them up tomorrow.
As much as I'd love to run out and start throwing mods at it, it's my first ever new car and I'll probably enjoy it in stock form for a while. Also, this will allow me to go a little farther with my 2002 Z28. I do plan on taking the G8 to the track next month and to the dyno over the winter though.
Also, my brother drove my 1994 LT1 and we raced the two cars today. After a few runs it seemed like the G8 would pull a little over 1 car on the LT1 up to 90 mph and then it would start walking hard. I had about 4 cars on him by 110-120mph. Not bad considering the low mileage. I couldn't believe how hard it pulled up top.

Great choice and good luck with it. I did not have any condensation issues with my headlights so surely take it back to have it looked at. Even if you plan on keeping it stock for a while, at least get a tune on the car. The transmission tuning on the car really hampers the way it ought to respond.
Looking forward to the pics.

^I made a post about it the street race section, and Joe will be posting up the videos there
Thanks guys! I love the car so far. I was thinking about the GXP, but I wanted an auto anyway (I have my 2002 Z28 when I want to bang gears) and they are saying the GXP is gonna be close to 40K, so I would end up paying almost 10K more for 39 hp. I can get that extra hp for much cheaper, lol.
Blackbirdws6, how's it drive after the tune? I seem to think that mine is faster in sport shift mode than with me shifting it. Will a tune make it shift faster when I manually shift it? It just seems like there's a big delay after you move the shifter up.
Either way, I'll be taking it to the track and dyno for baseline numbers long before I get it tuned, so I'll see the before and after. These cars do seem to pick up with a tune (someone got like 330 with a CAI and tune).

Great choice!! Those cars are huge inside, huge trunk, backseat etc. You'll see some nice gains with just a tune, so you may want to look into that.
For the money their isn't anything out there thats even close to the G8 GT's value. Throw in a 100k powertrain warranty and decent gas mileage for a V8 sedan and its a no-brainer.

The 6L80 is a great automatic too, I have it in my Vette and it's got that low first gear (4.02 or 4.03) yet still delivers the highway fuel economy with it's overdrive 5th and 6th.

Awesome cars for sure. The thought lingers in my head to get one myself now that my GTO is paid off, but I think I am gonna stay with my original plan: convince the g/f to get the G8 and I'll buy the mods for it!! HA
Nice car man! Enjoy it! That car would love a ProCharger!

Thanks! Yeah, I love the GTO's, and was sorry to see them go. I'm glad that Pontiac came out with something to semi replace it. Also, for my purposes, I like the practicality of the G8.
Blackbirdws6, how are the transmissions holding up once the car gets tuned and the torque management gets removed? In stock form, my car almost has a turboish feel in that is kind of ramps up and pulls way harder in the upper rpms. I'm thinking that this is the torque management not allowing for full power down low. I'm sure this is also why burnouts are kind of difficult even with TC off (I can do one, but I have to be dead stopped and really hammer the gas).
