There is a few reasons it broke. 1) The drive shaft was too long when I had it made I had to un-bolt the rear to get it in so it had constant pressure on the U-joints and I am sure it played a BIG part in the U-joint braking. 2) I did not have a drive shaft loop and the drive shaft swinging in a great big circle is what took the tranny out. 3) I still had the torque arm mounted on the trans and with me getting some long time bugs out it is putting a lot of stress on the tail shaft and housing. It is all fixed now and we are going for 9's with the 4L60E. You guys are going to have one of the fastest stock bottom end LS1 4L60e's in the country right here!!!

at'ta boy. The fastest ls1 fullweight xm radio equipped stock shortblock car.

And i dont have a drive shaft loop, and i hate it. And my driveshafts to long too, when weights on the car im 1/4 out of the trans and when its on the lift im bottomed out. So same here.
ya that torque arm on the trans is alot of stress. You gotta think when your car wheelies that torque arm is whats picking the front of the car up so pretty much your transmission tailshaft is taking the whole force of the car lifting. Kinda nuts how they hold up to beign with.

glad to see you got it fixed and back in action Greg. and faster than ever. does anyone know of a good wheel repair shop? I had an incident last weekend and one of my custom made TSW's have a bent and cracked lip. replacing it isn't and option because they don't offer them in this size or offset anymore. thanks for any help

It is not completely back together yet but it is very close. I do have all the needed parts sitting there just waiting to be put on. I may also try and get my progressive controller back on it and working correctly because I made a plug change so I can spray it MORE. I may need the progressive to get it out of the hole without spinning or putting a stock bottom end on its bumper!! O and it will work better on the street with the progressive controller.

I have one of those annoying exhaust leaks too. comes and goes... it's the damnedest thing lol

interesting point I discovered yesterday upon replacing my axle, my car had already been swapped to 3.42 gears. thusly why everyone said it was unusually quick for a stock auto

Where did you buy your heavy duty parts for the 4L60E? Once I finally get the 4L80E installed, I will have a 60E to play with. I would like to build it to take plenty of punishment.

I had it built a long time ago and I could not tell where he got the parts. It should hold up once everything is set up correct. I hope!!!!!! If it does not it is getting a TH400 next time.
