Got this into the shop a few days back, ive been passionate about the FJ40 Cruisers since i was a little kid and Seeing this thing every morning really puts a smile on my face. Its not the most perfect ride/build, but its definitely got a huge cool factor to me. Just was curious if the owner was an LS1Tech member or not.

I have always loved them. I looked for one when I sold my Z, but couldnt find any in my price range. So I got a Corvette, then sold it and got a CJ5. Thinking about finding a 4 cylinder CJ and doing that to it though. Mine is too nice to cut up.

I just put the 5.3 in mine and LOVE it. When I bought the cruiser it already had the 700r4 mated to the original t-case. It came with a 230 I6 that couldn't get me up the hills and only got 7-8mpg. I was lucky to find a 5.3 with only 20k miles. I still have many things I want to do to button it up.
Anyway, that is one sweet ride.

I don't know. I haven't really thought about it. The only reason I would sell it would be to get something a little more practical to drive with my 1yr old daughter. Possibly the FJ cruiser. When I bought it the guy already had frame-off restore started and coated the underneath with a rihno liner and a red high heat paint for the axels. The whole drivetrain was already rebuilt except for that gutless 230. When I did the swap I moved the drivetrain up about 2 inches for better clearance and had the drive shafts lengthened and shortened. I installed a hydro-boost for the brakes and power steering and kept the enclose cooling system out of the same truck I got the motor out of. The swap also needed more ground clearance so I put the Old Man Emu lift on it and put an LS1 oil pan on it. "Do it right the first time" was my moto throughout the swap. I did not know that everything would turn out so nice. I'm not saying that I need to get the same price as an FJ. I have around $15k in it. I don't know if I would get that out of it, but I wouldn't expect to get a fortune like some of the asking prices I've seen.
I do have a lot of extra parts that would go with it. I also have a soft top with the soft doors.
If someone was really interested in buying it I guess you could call me. 417-459-1169
