anyone do side work......south Florida....
I'll go to a tranny shop if I have to...but maybe somene needs/wants to make some side cash.
I need my tranny lowered or dropped, whatever....so I can have a welder come to weld my broken starter mount back on. Then put the tranny back.
Anyone? The best price I got so far is $250.00 just for the labor to drop it and put it back. If your a badass aluminum welder you can do that too if you want to.
I can tow it anywhere in SF.....you would need the lift.

No...lol
The stater housing broke on the other side where the good mount is. As I was removing the bolt from the other side where the break is that piece just fell off. So when the starter broke as I was trying to start the engine, it torqued away from the flywheel and broke that mount.

Wow, that happened to a cast iron 396 I had back in the day. It was the outside bolt, and the casting broke right off as I was tightening it, taking 180 degrees of the threaded part of the block edge with it.
I was 16 at the time, and have never tightened an outside bolt first again since that horror show!
Had to weld in a stud. Slide the starter up on that, then install the inner bolt.
Took a while playing around with it, but ithe starter finally meshed with the clutch type flywheel well enough to properly work.
Well enough atleast until I threw a rod thru the lower block and part of the oil pan on a 1-2 shift.
Hey, Old 2 bolt main bowtie bigblocks don't like more than around 6200-6500 r's, but the solid cams & square port heads put on them, will make 'em sing to over 7 G's....lol
Hopefully Erik or Josh at LashWay,can hook you up on a good deal.
