Default Machine shop just called.. Now what

Well they said the block is no good... has a bad gouge in one of the cylinders and the crank is done.. so i need a new short block... any other options on blocks? i have good heads , intake, and all acc. Trying to keep a budget since this isnt a track car or anything.. just a fun weekend 385- 400 hp car.

You have to drill/tap the third bolt hole for the alternator and that's it for an lq4/9. That'll be your best option. Having the 4" bore will be great down the road when you get the money for a good set of heads...even if you don't stroke it.

There should be a decent increase of mid rpm tq though....even with the same heads/cam as you would have on a 346.

I have a crank that is freshly machined turned 10 10 with a full rotating assembly that is already balanced, full set of coated bearings mains and rods. All you need is a block pistons and rods are factory absolutly no damage.

I was jsut about to post this and I read your thread.
