Default Who brews their own beer ?

Ive been brewing beer for about 5 years, and wondering if any of you guys brew. I have two 5 gallon batching fermenting now.

Between tuning cars and brewing my own beer, im not sure which is more fun

a guy I worked with did, but I don't drink very much so I never got in to it. Not to mention, I honestly don't like the taste of any type of alcohol really. I will drink beer socially, but I don't care for it.

I bought my brother his own beer making brewery and they turned out better than any other dark beer I have ever had.

But I don't think he has bought any more stuff to make more.

I thought we got rid of you. Are you back in the LSx game?

I always have 75 empty beer bottles, three party pigs (2.5 gallon containers), 4 growlers 2L, and my 6 gallon keg on hand for bottling. My neighbors love when I come to a party.

I think most of the miles on my car are on sunday morning when I drive out to St pete to the wine and beer hut for brewing supplies

I use to. My previous job was at a micro brewery here in Orlando. The brew master there owns a burst orange C6 Z06 so we got along great. Got tons of **** from there that saved me money like the first bit of the wort from the brew kettle that they didn't use to start my batches. Fun stuff and still amazed about how much science it is over just "cooking"

That's something I've always wanted to try..

Phil, do you have any suggestions for some newbie "getting started" supplies?

Its as easy as making soup.

I bought a beginners kit a couple years ago. Ive bought a couple more 6 gallon buckets to run several batches at a time.

You can pick up a basic kit for about $150.00 with your first batch included.

After that, It cost about $35-40 bucks for 48 beers. ( five gallons)

It takes anywhere from 2 weeks to 5 weeks from start to finish depending on how long you leave it in secondary ( to make it clearer and taste cleaner)

I know I am not a Florida member but I am coming in anyway.

I got a setup a year ago or so and have only made a Honey Wheat. I have all I need to start my next batch which will be an oatmeal stout. I have just been lazy as of late.

Three batches ago, I did a honey wheat, and used a Orange flavored honey. It almost tasted like a blue moon.

I failed on a oatmeal stout when I tried. I added to much black grain and it had a burnt coffee taste. My sister loved it, but I poured out 4 gallons. I should have added more oatmeal, and far less black grain.

Ya, I have read that it is a careful balance. I am pretty excited to start another but have been busy as of late.

Do you keg or bottle?

Both.
I depends on if I need drinking beer, or I have a neighborhood party coming up.

I though I had one keg, but when I cleaned it over the weekend, and put it in the closet this morning, I saw the other keg. Its a sign of having to any supplies lol

That must be nice.

Since I am new to it, I haven't bought kegging supplies yet. I'm still working on the fine art of bottling.

Other than cleaning the bottles, like to use them. Otherwise I have to tap something large for a couple beers

My older brother does. I've never personally had any of it as I'm not a beer fan. He makes a batch about every six months or so when he runs out. He also has a full copper still that we've been working towards getting running. My friend works at Budweiser so it isn't exactly hard to find supplies like kegs or anything else.
