Default Insurance nightmare... New to Florida

I'm having a hell of a time getting reasonable auto insurance. I'm trying to insure a 2003 Chevy Blazer 2 dr, by itself. The one place I called this morning wanted $3400 a year BEFORE they pulled my driving record. I'll say it now, my record is BAD. I have 10 or so dings on my record, and an accident claim (although ive never been at fault in an accident).. speeding x4 and a suspended license charge. The agent said my rate would double ($6000+ a year).. I paid $2500 for this truck, how do I go about insuring it without taking it in the ***? I hear all the cubans down here are always staging accidents and Florida is big on insurance fraud. Anyone know a cheap source of minimums insurance?

Have you tried "The General" those commercials are awful, but apperantly they have the lowest rates anywhere.

http://www.thegeneral.com/

Ive never used them before, i use progressive. but i only have 2 tickets on my record. so i have a decent rate.

I used to have Esurance for dd's. Switched to Star and Shield if you are LEO/Fire/EMS. Progressive for my bike, adn Grundy for and agreed value for the Z.

Your record will be challenging....

The general is not licensed for Florida. Esurance denied me, and progressive is a lot more expensive than they used to be,.

I paid $135 a month for my WS6 and CTS w/ Allstate under my moms insurance. I have a record down here that is half way through page two. But I havent had a ticket in almost 3 years now (which is as far back as they look) and when I went onto my own insurance they only went up to $160 a month for both cars.

Like they said, its all about the record down here. Stay clean and your insurance will reflect it, and fast!

Pm me your # my gf works for insurance. Her company branches out with 5-8 different insurance company's to get you the lowest cost from the 8. Maybe she can help? Oh and we are also in Orlando. I don't know if you live here or not. But other than that there are plenty hole in the wall insurance shops that are cheap. Just watch out who you go for. Right now I pay $116 for just tag insurance. And that is on my 96beretta that I paid $400for since my ta is down.

I haven't had any tickets in a number of years, I'm rocking full coverage @ $100 a month through State Farm for my 00 Trans Am, and that actually also includes renters insurance. Also, I'm not married, so being single makes my insurance higher than those married guys. Not sure if it has any bearing on insurance cost, but I've been with State Farm since I was 16, I'm 28 now.

I would try Geico. I just bought a Z28 and they only charge me $114 a month for full coverage, when I have my V6 camaro on allstate and they charge me $150 a month. I called everywhere and Geico was the chapest. And with Geico after they ran my record the price they quoted me didn't change.

Time to find an agent at one of those little mom and pop insurance agencies to find you a good rate with some unknown company. Back in my younger days when I was always a ticket away from losing my license thats how I got it done. It gets you legal, but dont get in an accident

These days I'm with Progressive. We pay just under $100 a month for full coverage on an 03 Z06 and an 08 avenger. Married, kid, homeowner, clean record, ect....

I've got my Malibu on full coverage through another company, $170 or so a month.. which is reasonable. But $300+ for a POS V6 blazer that I paid $2400 for is outrageous. To mom and pops I go!

damn your record must really suck. i have a pretty clean record and i pay $422 every 6 months for full coverage on a 2004 mustang convertible and $239 a year for collectors insurance on the trans am. the mustang is through progressive and the trans am is through american collectors.

I've got quite the rap sheet. I have no idea where the collision and accident claims came from, I never had an at-fault accident, but i've been rear-ended by mexicans 3 times (no damage to my truck)
