Default C5 head/cam install

coming back from the desert in a few months and will be installing heads and cam in my 00 C5. I have never done anything like this before so I was wondering if anyone near cocoa beach/melbourne has done this before and would be willing to help me out.

thanks

Definitely a large task to take up as your first big install. Too bad you aren't on the other side of Florida I am over in Tampa and have doen a ton of heads and cam installs on C5s.

I have been talking to a number of the shops there in FL, antivenom, efi alchemy etc and it is going to be 2000-2500 if I just drop the car off and have them install everything and tune. I am sure I can do it but I would really like help from someone who will smack my hand away right before I do something stupid.

If you are good it is easy. If you are providing food and beer, I may be able able to provide some help. Also, you will need a tune. One of us with HPTuners can load a temp tune, but you need a real tune. Trailer it to Dan at Masport or Eric Lashway.... LS's are super easy to work on IMO.....

it looks easy and I have done motorwork before. I rebuilt the 289 in my 68 mustang but got burned when I did a head/cam swap in my 72 C3. Apparently I didnt notice that the block had been decked and used too long pushrods. A bent valve, scored piston walls, 6K and a ZZ454 later it was back running. If I ever go back inside and tell the wife the car is screwed again I will probably be divorced.

I know a very good builder in Lakeland, a very good tuner in Tampa, and to tighten the ride up, BMR suspension work in Tampa

I was considering EFI Alchemy in Jacksonville to do the build and tune. Problem where I am is that there is no one near that can build close and even farther for a tune so if I do build it myself then I have to drive it untuned 2 hours in all directions (except east of course) for a tune. There is Vette Doctors in Melbourne but they don't have a dyno. I was thinking antivenom in Tampa but I mentioned them on the other corvette forum and got 3 PMs from different people warning me against them.

I would go to Lashway Motorsports hands down. They are the only LSx specific shop in South Florida that is an active member of this forum. Also I have witnessed them fix more tunes and bad installs that other big name shops in South Florida have hacked. if you are looking for top notch work and have your vehicle tuned by one of the best tuners I have seen you will go to Lashway Motorsports

They did all the work on my truck from start to finish and I would have not brought it anywhere else

You can't go wrong with Lashway. Great work, and their customer service is second to none.
