Default Does $930 sound about right??......

Since I dont have the time or patience to do a cam swap I'm having it professionally done, the guy i'm taking it to is all GM ACdelco certified, etc, having a 10 sec TA of his own , he works on a ton of F-bodies, at first he was going to charge me $1400 initially with tax and all to install cam and springs. I'm supplying cam, springs, pushrods, retainers, timing chain etc. He said he'll do it for $930 out the door and have my car for 2 days (has alot of other cars) does this sound right , or can I find quality work for less and have it done in the same amount of time. I'm in the port st. lucie, west palm, vero beach area....if any suggestions theyre greatly appreciated

Holy hell, I'd be happy to help you if you bought me lunch, dinner and some beer! I even have all the tools, the JPR cam tools, the larry spring tool, etc... Might cost you dinner a few more times depending on how it goes, but I'm a cheap date, checkers is fine

WAAAY too much, sounds like your getting yanked. 550 seems to be the going rate for an honest shop.

Man im glad you posted. I would hate to see ya lose out on that kinda money. I just did cam and heads in my car the other night adn it took me about 6-7 hours. And im not a pro like this guy sounds. I dont know how technically inclined you are but saving 550$ would buy you ALOT of tools. Get al big Craftsman tool kit with all sorts of sockets and wrench's and air tools and even a descent compressor, I dont mean a huge shop compressor. That is somethign to think about man. GL with whatever ya decide.
Damn i wish i lived close. I woudl take ya up on that in a heartbeat. GL

Damn, hell if I was remotely close to you, I'd do it for $400. $930 is way too much for a cam install. I don't give a rats *** if he is NASA certified. Find a private installer close to you who has done a cam swap on an ls1 and save yourself about $500.

I'd buy you the cam and springs, install it, tune it, and buy you dinner for 1400

For the 900 and change, I'd still buy you the cam and springs and then install...

Moving this to the regional forum for you.

Vinci High performance is in Florida. I don't know what they charge, but give them a call. A 3 hour drive may save you a lot of money.

How much did your dealer want to install it?

I was quoted $500 for install + tune, which is right on the money for a cam install, but almost a free tune. Was going to use EFi Live.

does that $900 include a tune? A good tune typically cost $500 and includes dyno time... that may be why there is a discrepancy in price

I will do it for you whenever you want.
PM me so we can talk as there are a few gaskets needed, springs, tune etc.
I can do it all in 1 day and have Jeremy from Rev Extreem come down and tune the car the same day.
