Default track rant

alright almost embarrased to post this but want some advice. Is my shitty 60 ft holding me back or is my car losing power in the top end? maybe the florida weather? here is my time slip. this is on motor making 342/348 to the wheels.

r/t - .443
60' - 2.276
330 - 5.946
1/8 - 8.921
mph - 83.19
1000 - 11.440
1/4 - 13.555
mph 106.60

bolt on ls1 with nitto 555r. i did not turn the nittos to long.. just a few seconds. maybe i should go a lot longer next time? my friend is going to teach me how to launch sometime this week so i hope to get a bit better with getting off the line.

My dads car went 13.0@110 with just a lid/pulley/ram air setup with hydrolic issues so he was granny shifting just for comparison. How are you launching it?

Well, These are my results from last Wednesday.

R/T .200
60' 2.310
330' 6.033
1/8th 9.024
MPH 82.61
1000' 11.561
1/4 13.694
MPH 106.02

Thats with the 02 Camaro, Full weight, and 245 street tires... My mods are K+N filter, Fabbed up Y-pipe and bullet dump (Still stock cats), and FRA.

So something tells me that maybe you're missing a little something somewhere.

What were the weather conditions like between Wednesday and Friday?

Your 60' can drop down about three tenths with some practice, which will get you close to 13 flat. The air is costing you a few MPH, and without listening to your shifts while you run, there could be both ET and MPH to be had by shifting faster.

yeah your 60 needs to come down to 2.0-1.9 and your reaction time could help you alot too but your doin pretty good
have you hit the nitrous yet?

yeah i would like to be under a 2.0.. i know i can see 12's with my mods... the 2nd run i left on the 3rd amber and my reaction time was a lot better. i am going to go this friday i really hope i can do it.

as for the nitrous. i went to the track at the beginning of the month with the stock clutch and tried to spray but the clutch was barely holding on motor let alone on the juice. but now with the new clutch i hope to get some spray runs in.

how is his reaction time going to help his ET? RT has zero to do with ET.

reaction time has nothing to do with ET

your 60 and florida heat is killing you. Come Jan Feb you will see a big gain. My old car would lose 4-5 mph in jun, jul, aug compared to jan-feb.

Your MPH will start to come up in as little as a month, October usually brings in the low humidity. You can can probably go a full second quicker with better air, a good launch and quicker shifting.

well i would recommend dumping it up alittle high say around 3500-4000rpms. should drop your 60' considerably. but i was on street tires the same night you went. and pulled a best of 13.5 @ 106. i went that night only to see if my tuning i did would increase my mph. and it did. so now i need some slicks.

Don't worry about it too much man. You have 2 things working against hitting 12's. Nittos and Florida weather.

My car is cammed, makes 382 whp and I can only manage 12.4@110MPH.

Like others said, wait till the weather gets better and you'll get better times. Also, you have to heat them Nittos real good to get anything decent out of them. Remember, Nittos are the worse of the DR family as far as stickiness goes at the track.

must be a fluke that i ran 11.4s (1.707 60ft) on 275/40-17 nittos with the black car and 11.4s (1.750 60ft) on 245/50-16 nittos in the white car then.

Don't feel bad man. I only cut a 2.3xx on both runs with a 12.87 @112 mph after only stalling at 1500-1600 rpm ... with a 8 sec burnout. I didn't launch hard at all and still sit there and spun the tires and had to let all the way out of it and then re-mash the accelerator to to slowly relaunch and then was able to get on it real hard once I FINALLY got into 2nd. Gotta' get tires and go back and launch easier to cut a decent 60' ft time. Track really does suck as bad as they say ... better traction out here on the streets. Good seein' you, Ryan, Brian, Rick, and my buddy Steve out there Wednesday night. I'll be going back soon to see if I can make the tires stick with a nice, easy launch on the Nitto's. If I can launch easy and cut a 1.8, I should be in the 11's. With tires and a 1.5-1.6 60' time, I should be low-mid 11's. Car gets tuned for the 150 wet in a couple of weeks. Hopefully, I'll be low 10's but, not at OSW. Unless it's a time when they treat the track.
