I guess you've never been in a big stalled auto at the track before.

In my opinion, autos use more gas than Manuel cars. They can be just as fast as a manuel car with a proper stall. With a manuel there is a 6th gear OD nice doin 80mph just below 2000 rpms. The rear end is harder on the manuel than auto. etc

In a stalled auto w/3:73 rearend gears, it's pretty nice hittin' 130 when it shifts into OD ... and you still have the entire gear range left. Not shabby off the line, as well ... lol! Isn't it something like 80-85% of straightline track wins are auto's? Hmmmm ...

I almost sold my car because it was an auto, 6-speed conversion FTMFW. Driving an auto around towing is boring as hell.

Might be boring, but, haven't had a stick beat me off the line yet. Only cut a 1.707 60' last night ... but 'hey' ... it was only my third time racing in my entire life. And I only stalled it to about 1700-1800 and no smokein' burnout ... cold tires.

I was raised on a manual stick shifter. There's no denying they are more fun to drive, however, I bought an auto because I love the dig ... can ya' dig it!?

If I was building a drag car on a limited budget there is no doubt that it would be an auto, but for a daily there is no way in hell I would buy an auto f-body.
