Default So I took it to Bithlo...

...and it wasn't good. Car's only making about 6psig and then falling off. Boost leak somewhere. But that's only the beginning...

1st pass, 13.4@118...2.4 60'

2nd pass, blew the intake hose off at 330', lift pass thru at 66mph

3rd pass, blew intake hose off again at 330', then the STS oil pump started buzzing and puking oil out the exhaust. I decided to wrap it up while the motor was still together and head home.

Thanks Dave for the use of your helmet! Glad I didn't need it.

STS Turbo V8 on street radial tires FTL. Now to fix the stupid oil pump and find the boost leak. As a bonus, I need to have a lip welded onto the intake elbow where the hose attached so it doesn't fly off every time I'm into boost.

LOL...yathink? Thanks again...strangely enough, I came home and <poof>, there my helmet was on my workbench with my flashlight and tool kit. That's what I get for putting the spare tire back into the car.

I'm calling STS this morning to get a new oil pump.

I might bring my little guy out on NOF to see the "Wheelstanding supercharged car". He thinks that's just too cool.

Damn Ronnie, it seems the list gets longer. I do have a way to get the tubing to work, but that oil pump, not so much Talk to you later.

I'll call you later, Mike. The list is indeed longer. I think the problem may very well be the turbo. We'll add a boost controller and see if it helps. I'm on hold with STS now. The wiring is suspect, since the pump is intermittent.

LOL, if I could have made a full pass, I think 12's would have been on the slow side. The only decent pass I made had wheelspin in every gear, and I hit the rev limiter on the 2-3. It's still only making 6psi. Ugh.

i have yet to run a good time on that track, everyone else with same mods is in 12s at other tracks in different states, me...well, 13.9 with full bolt ons, suspension, and full drivetrain, plus DRs... buddy of mine who runs 11s couldn't break a low 12 to save his life there. and with an STS kit on there he should have been easy 12s and shouldn't know what a 13 is

It takes traction to make a good run. I dont see any way to make a fast run with street tires and over 600rwhp. Everyone says OSW sucks , me and alot of guys I know make good runs at Bithlo all the time, maybe some people just need better tires / suspension.

My best time in my old supra came at osw... vegas I managed better 60's but the elevation killed the actual time even if it did correct to a better time. My best time in my 240sx came at osw. Street tires will always leave you unhappy if the car has some power. I think the track is better than some make it out to be. fwiw though, Bradenton hooks.

I have no issues hooking at OSW with DR's

Street tires is a different story, but I don't run them anymore

Exactly. I've been racing there since I was 16 and in a FWD Colt Turbo. It's done fine by me, even with the old bump around the 1000' mark on the bleacher side (I think it's gone now)...It's really the only track I've ever run on, with the exception of Gainesville. Sticky tires and proper suspension dial-in make the diff.

That said, I found a few things that weren't right. I had some vacuum lines loose, the oil pump wires weren't real tight, and of course, I had the wrong tires.

Better luck next time.

Hooking at OSW is easy if you know what you're doing. When you learn all of the little nuances of hooking at the track, getting traction is EASY at OSW.

Well I can cut 1.6 60's at OSW with just bolt ons

I sure the hell won't do that on the street.

Sorry to hear about the issues...just got my car on the street again today... I'm going to take it down to OSW tonight and see what kind of time I can ring out of it

Night of Fire is Saturday....what does it take besides 50 dollars to be aloud to race in that?

I use to hate OSW, but they deffinitely have changed things up there since they redid almost everything. Cant wait to get real tires so I can go out there and get real times!

Sorry to hear bout the car messing up. It is a bit of a bitch to get good times with a T/C'd GTO on street tires though!
