Just like it says. I dont think my stock 10 bolt will hold the new found power, so I'm looking into a S60, and my guy said with 1000 rwhp.. 3.08 gears would be the best for highway and overall use

I was thinking about 3.08's also. but so far this thread hasnt really helped us much. 3.50, 3.42, 3.25, 3.08. I hear from a lot of guys on the street that 3.50's are the way to go. but a lot of drag guys run 3.08's. Ive heard everything. im not sure what im gonna do. but good luck.

thats weird because i was thinking about order a tranzilla for my gto and they are telling me to run 3:50 and higher for some reason maybe due to the gearing of the transmission?

Did the 30.08 rear gear comment from your trans guy come after he knew u were wanting an S60???

The reason i ask is i have an S60 and a 3.54 gear is as low as you can go.

A 9" will give you more gear choices.

I'd go for a 3.00 to 3.25. 3.25 in my race car.

I had a 3.42 in my TT T/A then went with a 3.08 when I got the 9" and loved it. On my current build I'm doing a 3.08 again. 6sp car + 427&blower.

None of da homies wanna mess with my whip on da highway yo. My shizzle has 2.75izzle gearizzles. SOB gets down wit da clown and just chills around town.

Ok, my 2.75's let me dominate on highway pulls from 60+ mph. I pretty much own anything that has to shift gears because with 28" tall tires 2nd is in it's power range from 60-140 mph Third will take me to a little over 200 mph. It's fun to walk a busa on the highway. Every time they shift they just fall back farther.

For you 6 speed guys with low gears like 3.08, how are you doing in the 60'? I was just orginally thinking about doing 3.54's in the the S60, but with a 29" tire, thats like 60 mph at least in 1st gear. Which means if you bog or anything and are not in boost, you are going to have one shitty of a time I think. Or am I just missing something? I am debating between 3.54's and 3.73's with my S60 and 29" tire. What do you guys think?

i run 3.42 in my 12 bolt and M6. they work well with 26 inch tire but i think 3.73 would be better for my 28inch tall slicks

See, that is what I was thinking TomZ28. Also, I made a mistake, my tire is a 28" (275/60/15). But anyways I did some math on how fast it would go, and with 3.54's it would be somewhere between 57 and 62 mph, depending on how high I rev the motor. Those mph #'s are at 6500 and 7000 respectivly. The 3.73's would yield 54 and 58 mph at the differnet mph's. So its not that huge of a difference, but yet you cant deny 3.73's should launch a little better, allow me to use 6th gear on the freeway, and provide 5% more power to the wheels. Again, not huge, but at least better you could say.

Also, I guess you could say that with the 3.73's in the car, I would spend more time in 4th gear. Which was a big concern to me. I hope my car will trap in the 130's, and I still would have room to grow with the 3.73's. Since 4th gear with 28's would bring me to 145-150 mph. Just some things to consider.
