BIG Turbo
BIG Turbo Hey guys I recently came into pocession of a turbo off of a Cummins ISL (8.9L) it a Holeset but I'm not sure of the model. I was thinking bout using this on my Chevelle conversion, but I know its a pretty big turbo. I am just not sure if an LS1 will be able to spool it up. I know that on the Cummins they are doing upwards of 40psi of boost at around 2200rpm. I thought that at bout half the size that the increase in rpms might compinsate.

Anyway all holset turbos have a tag on them with the model number on it. Let us know what it is.

you shouldnt have a problem spooling it. really all depends on your setup. i didnt see what motor you are planning on running.just put a boost friendly cam in there and a stall and you should be fine.
Hey I found the tag on the turbo, it is a hx40w. It was hiding under a Cummins sticker. It has a 4" inlet and a 4" outlet. I have done just a little reading about them and they seem to be at least somewhat common on RX7s and Buttstangs, so I think that it will work fine on the LS1.
