Turbo flow: inlet reducer vs changing compressor

Has anyone tested to see the flow difference between lets say a 95mm turbo with a 76mm reducer and a true 76mm turbo?

Talk to Jose...they have done it. Creates one heck of a vacuum on the comp wheel from what I understood.

will better be a ball bearing turbo..
or it will pull the thrust clean out of it...

nearly like a blocked aircleaner in front of it..

That is correct, and also pulls the oil through the front of the turbo....not good.

I have seen a Gt47-88MM with a 72MM sleeve i think it lasted a season and was used on a streetrace car and had good luck with it

Its similar to an inlet restrictor on an LMP car or FSAE car. Airflow up to the sonic point will be greater IIRC.

Silly idea here - but I've heard talk about inserting inlet vein guides before the compressor. I think some turbodiesels do this. Maybe a properly sized/vein oriented guide could serve as enough restriction while still giving the added benefits of increased compressor outlet velocity?

you can see the inlet restrictors on this Audi R10 Diesel LMP engine. They have to run 39.8mm inlet restrictors x 2 IIRC, its a GT30ish style turbo in flow rate.

A 95 reduced to 76? I've seen some GT47s in "76" format. Do you have to actually measure across the tips 76mm or just an inlet reducer?

Louis you should see how fast these things go form breakling HARD fora corner to full on the throttle. i bet there is NO lag! and i really mean none! i have seen them do standing starts on gravel (no traction, all 4 wheels spinning) and they are still making BIG boost. i hear 15psi is made with no load on the engine!!

no maybe you could mod the APS kit on your Corvette to run this type of anti-lag!
