The waste gate needs to be nounted between the turbo and the exhaust manifold.
It needs to see the same pressurized exhaust gas as the turbine inlet, and the valve should be positioned in a way that the exhaust flow hits it straight on.
You can mount it at 90* to the exhaust pipe, but this can cause boost control issues on some setups.
Here is a shot of one of mine.

Good luck!

Your link is not working.

Looking at this pic, I think the incoming exhaust is channeled to the exh outlet of the turbo. Otherwise, it won't work in that setup.

WG after the turbo is useless.

It will work if plumped like that pic, it's not after the turbo, it's plumed into the scroll part of the housing which is BEFORE the turbine wheel. That setup, although unique will work.

+1
This Corvette specific setup is fed from the scroll (pressurized) section of the turbo
via a custom turbo housing.
This is not a typical design for a DIY/custom install to say the least.
You would need a turbo housing that has provisions for an external gate feed.
Just plumb it between the exh. manifold/header and the turbo like everyone does and go.

You can take the downpipe flange that you have and fabricate a pipe to go where the wastegate outlet was.
Yo will have to remove the internal gate and make sure all openings arer sealed up (welded).
Can't you get different turbine housings to simplify the whole process?

why not just get the block off plate that only has a provision for the outlet and does away with the internal gate? they are usually pretty cheap and can even be found on ebay
