will stock rod bolts on a 5.3 hold 10 psi??? or do i have to upgrade bolts? im trying to do a budget build i can go 8 psi if needed. i want atleast 400 rwhp.
I don't think you'll have a problem with the bolts--its usually the rod that fails, and that is all relative of course to your tune. That being said, they are cheap insurance.
+1 It would seem the most stress the rod bolts see is the transition from upward motion to downward motion. Thus, rpm's and rod/piston weight would be the issue.
