to much power
If I had to give a number though I would say between 600 - 700 rwhp is about all you could really utilize on the street. Just my opinion though.

Its all on what you can handle.
How much power you can use on the street is going to depend on your suspension set up and how well the car hooks. I.E I have 1 buddy with a 650ish RWHP S10 that almost dead hooks on the street but another buddy with a mid 700 RWHP truck that shreds the tires on more than a few lbs boost initially. Once its rolling, thats a different story... Different suspension than you obviously but just as an examlple.
Suspension setup and wheel/tire combination is a huge factory for useing big power on the street. Streetability of the engine however is a tune and preplan issue. Boosted engines are usually much more streetable than big hp N/A engines.
How much useable power you will be able to run is going to depend on lots of different things. Have you done anything to the car before this new engine, or are you jumping in with both feet?
I am looking into an add on traction system for my 99 as it came with no factory traction control. Factory control is pretty useless but better than nothing. Or say if someone is driving the car that shouldn't be..wifey..buddy..

Again, as everyone else has said, if you can keep the engine happy with good tuning, there really is no limit to streetable power, especially with an automatic. Sticks can get nasty with the clutches you have to run, but under 1000-1100 HP, a good twin disk can negate even that.
I'm shooting for ~600 RWHP in my setup (in a 2700 lbs car), and fully expect to get ~25-27 mpg on the highway while I'm at it (with 4.10 gears and a T56). With the possible exception of needing a controller for my A1000, there is nothing stopping me from driving across the country in the car. Adding 200-300 more RWHP with a forged motor wouldn't change anything either.
