Default Lt1 sts q...

If i order this kit; http://www.turbo-kits.com/lt1_camaro_turbo_kits.html , is there an optional intercooler from STS? Or do i have to fab one? Whats involved with fabbing an intercooler into this sytem? Do any sponsers or turbo companies offer one if STS doesnt?

as far as i remember, nothing from STS. that being said, you have other turbo setup choices fior your LT1 which will probably go together better

Well, i want to do a cutom front mount twin set up HOWEVER, i reside in the great state of California. So i am extremly limited in choices since i'm keeping it stret legal. I only want 600 or so RWHP. Advertising says a stock LT1 will make 400 on 6 psi. I need at least another 150. So i was thinking, how much boost is safe on a stock LT1? I've been reading and i've heard all the way to 13psi. Also, an intercooler should help it out quite a bit. I basically need to know how much boost is safe, and what to do for an intercooler.

7 psi is all i would run with a GOOD tune on a stock block. prochargers are CARB cert IIRC and will be much easier to get 600rwhp out of than the STS kit

Yea i've also considered that but i want a turbo set up. If there are any other street legal turbo kits im open to ideas but a lot about the sts is attractive, like no under hood heat and the ambient air effect. Its all going to be coated and/or wrapped so im not worried about efficiency. In the next year or so im going to rebuild the engine with forged internals and do abround 9.5 to 1. So, in the future, extra boost ect won't be a problem im just saying until then, what can i do to get closer to 550-600? And after the rebuild, what will it take to get around 850-900? But ill worry about the latter at a later point.

I have the same kit you may buy and i love it...It turns heads when you spoil it up that for sure...My car is running 7 psi and it fun for the street...If you buy it from turbokits.com talk to them they gave me a methanol kit for free which will acted as a ''chemical intercooler''If you do get a sts kit take your exhaust pipe and cut to about 18'' w a slight turn down it spoils a little quicker an sounds better...PS watch the ground clearance its a little close...Let me know what you do and if you have any Q's

also, im pretty sure the LS1 kit is CARB and the LT1 kit isnt. at least this is what my LT1 STS install manual said...

Can you post pics of the pipe you're talking about? You're not running an intercooler? Thats what im looking into right now trying to figure out the best way to intercool it. Can you adjust the boost if you want? I know they have internal wastegates but i was wondering if theyre adjustable. 7psi wont cut it for long

When did you install yours? CARB just pertains to the actual turbo being used i thought? According to the sts website all kits are legal. there were a few that wernt like the 02 zo6 kit but they said they are now. Ill double check to be sure.

Ill get some pics asap for you...No i dont have an intercooler the pipes help cool it and i use meth...i dont have a boost controller Im sorry am running 8 psi i forgot...What kind of car is this goin on??

my install manual states " for off-road use in California only"
i got the kit in late 2007, was one of supposedly redesigned kits with better ground clearance.

i did leave out in my PM's that i am not running any cat's or emissions. i do sill have my A/C, and windshield washer reservoir.



intercooler & black piping is LEP custom from under the driver seat to throttle body, STS pipping is from the driver seat back to turbo. stock manifolds, Ypipe and wrapped all the way back
