Default Vortech Head Unit clocking

Posting a question for a friend. He is going to buy a vortech kit for his '99 SS off a local guy in town. He wants to ditch the aftercooler and do a FMIC. With this, he wants to know if the f-body head unit/bracket is clockable so he can best fit piping for a FMIC? That is all! We both called Vortech directly in which we were both put on hold until we reached an answering machine.... awesome! Thanks!

The gearbox is not clockable, but the compressor housing is. You can spin it ant direction you wish.

From what I've been looking up, I'm pretty sure this bitch will clock any way you want. To get it where the X is and be facing straight down won't work though because of the side of the outlet on the blower. If you flipped it backwards which is not possible, then it would go there, haha

You may need to remove the entire unit and try different positions until you find one that will work. I think I see what you are trying to do - if the current outlet is clocked at 9 o'clock, you want it to be around 5 o'clock, pointing a little down and to the right, correct?

I don't know the V-9 unit, but I suspect the volute (compressor housing) is held on the same way as my V-2, with metal plates attached at both ends with a screw. On the V-2, Vortech puts extra holes so if you clock it, you can always find an assortment of holes (3 pairs needed IIRC) that will retain the volute. Be careful when you spin the housing. If it doesn't move, check again that nothing is in the way, and no bolts are banging up against something. If it still won't move, try heating the volute with a blowdryer, sometimes that's enough to expand them and free it up. If that fails, try removing the head unit and finding out what's up.

The V-9 supercharger actually uses a V-clamp. It can be adjusted 360 degrees. Just like most turbo housings.

I don't see it working, it looks like it would be in the way of the tensioner/power steering pump. Why not just install an air-water cooler. http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/view.php?pcat=3 or does it have one already? I don't remember.

Why clock it? Would something like this work under the SS hood? (I know it did under a WS6 hood; with a bit of cutting).

its already got one, im trying to get away from that, id rather do a FMIC, the other its too busy under the hood the way it comes, and like i said i think i would like a FMIC better.

Clocking can be useful though and is always worth consideration. Mine's not an F-bod, but clocking straight down on my V-2 T-trim, I was able to eliminate a lot of piping length and clutter to/from the FMIC:
