Default More boost for ninetres????

Sooooo, my 197th rebuild of my car's set-up is coming to an end here in the next few weeks. When I made my 9.70-->9.90 passes it was off of a 10psi WG spring that made about 11 or 12psi at the manifold. I do have an AEM guage pod type boost controller but never really took the time to figure out how to play with it

Soooooo I have another 4psi spring laying around that I figured I'd throw in for this season. My engine is 370" and about 9.2:1cr. Any guesses about how much time I'll pick up at the track? I think the car had a SOLID 9.59 in it on the lower 11ish psi boost setting if I had more seat time. I'm thinkin' it might dip into 9.teen land. Whatcha guys think?

More... the turbo will be good to about 18-19 before you max out the hot side.

LOL Haven't blown one up yet! Believe it or not! Always some gayness like my align hone was off, or my converter ballooned to hot-air balloon size or some ****.

I'm from Fresno. When I listed my location the local pigs were getting quite a rush for ticketing every car that they "thought" was modified for muffler violations. They had some insanely expensive task force to combat street racing (by way of muffler tickets) instead of fighting real crime.

Do you already leave with the wg open? If not why even changethe spring, that just means you need more suspension. With more suspension on your current set up it ll go quicker anyways.

No, actually not LOL. You are 100% correct. More seat time (which goes along with suspension adjustment) WILL make my car go faster. So combine that with more boost and it will 60' harder, and pick up more time on the back half! I, for one, don't believe in band aids and can deal with 2800 rpms cruising on the freeway at 70mph.

Are you crossing the traps at 5600 or is there more convertor slip up top?

2800 @ 70 isnt to bad.......but most the traffic around here is 80 + to not have people riding up on you and constantly passing you like your in the way. I guess thats just a function of being in the middle of the desert.

I don't know exacty where I cross the traps at. 3.25 gear and 28" tire. I had a POS fuddle converter that was probably barely hanging on. I was trapping 139.9-140.9mph every pass.

I don't drive like everyone else on the freeway (in my camaro at least). I just cruise at 70mph in the slow lane. There is no doubt people are driving faster than me........but they all know what time it is when they pass me and give me the thumbs up!

PS--I'm probably gonna switch to 3.50s at some point this season (if I can afford it).

Figure even putting a whipping to the converter, you probably were crossing under 6k rpms for your 139/140 mph pass.

Tune that monster for 17-19psi and go get your 148-153 mph pass first. Then worry about getting your .1-.2s out of the gear change if you still feel you need it.

By the way, what's the down pipe size on your setup?

4" DP. And I have n intention of that much boost. I plan to keep the heads flat on this car I don't trust these puny 4 bolt set-ups much past 800whp.

The 4" DP will help but I'm giving you what appears to be about the max target for the ST80 on 370-402ci. It holds as long as you have fuel. Zombie and I have pushed the ST80 that far on the 1.1 A/R and that's about all the hot side can handle with a 3.5" DP.

Tell me about your set-up. Cubes, CR, PSI at manifold? Front or Rear mount? Race weight? And best ET/Trap speed?

I gotta believe I could squeak a bottom 9 outta 16 psi.

My old hot side was only a 1.00 a/r and I'm running a much less efficient setup being rear mounted. I think he could make enough power to run a bottom 9 pass with 18-20psi. I don't know if he will have enough exhaust flow with that housing and turbine. I got to the point where I could add boost and not gain anything. Anything over 16psi on my setup would just drop back to 16psi by 6000 rpms.

It's going to take around another 160 average hp to go from 9.8's to 9.2's with a 3650 raceweight (whats your car weigh ninetres?).

The 83mm turbine wheel seems to back everything up at about 925hp at the flywheel on engines in the 6l range.

According to my fuel delivery I was making around 870-900 HP at the flywheel with the 1.00 a/r and 83mm turbine assuming a 0.63 BSFC. I know I was putting down 750 to the wheels. 120-150 HP loss through my drive line sounds reasonable to me. I don't know my exact BSFC but it's going to be between 0.60 and 0.70.

I have a 1.1ar exhaust side. My car weighs 3450 without me (full tank of gas which is what I race on). Right now I am a solid 225lbs.

I'm just going to add the 4lb spring to my tial 44mm WG, on top of he 10 spi spring thats in it currently. I think it will yeild about 15 or 16 psi....and we'll see how it does!

Sounds like my crank is arriving to me local speed shop today, and my friend is going to assemble the motor in the next week or two. Damn pseudo-sponsorship keeps my car in line behind paying customers lol
