Default Boosted Lt1

Ok so here is my plan, I am going to do a Head/Cam Package with a mail order tune and install a SC Kit on my LT1. The plan is to run this set up during the summer while my 383 is being built. Then this winter put my 383 in, can anyone recommend a good Head/Cam Combo for a Blown LT1. It does not have to be anything to crazy as it will still have the stock bottom end. Thanks Guys

Boost overcomes all....I run stock heads on most boosted lt1's with small cams. If your looking for big power, I ussually use the good edelbrocks. They are about 1100 each though....but they flow well.

You can make 600hp on stock heeds, and a 220-230 cam with good intercooler boost with water/meth.

Yeah, but how much hp can the stock bottom end handle safely?

Edit: The 383 will be boosted also

Ive looked into boost myself and I hear that LT1 Rods can handle 7psi as where the Pistons can only do 5psi.. dont push the stock bottom to far..

Why would the SC Kits come rated and recommend at 7-8psi on a stock motor if the Pistons have only handle 5psi?

I ran 10 psi when the stock motor was still in the car. It never did fail on me.
I did have it dyno tuned though which is the key and make sure you dont get greedy.

Do not have to worry about that (greedy), I only plan to run the 7-8psi that the kit comes with.

Car already has a Walbro 255lph in tank fuel pump. Will this be enough or should I upgrade the injectors also? What would be a safe PSI to run on stock injectors?

Blown LT1 with stock injectors?? Are you running an FMU? If so, discard that and go with bigger injectors. Your fuel system will depend on what power level you plan to run, you can never go too small here.

You can also check out my build, I have been running 9 psi for 6 years...but about all track duty. I always have fresh fuel with octane boost and keep the plugs changed, ngk TR6's. AFR is about 12.0 across the board.

Also, is it intercooled?? Wouldn't run much more than 5 without it.

Like said above, the pistons are the weak unit here. Running lean or running with an engine that is passing oil will kill pistons.

Good luck with her,
Jon

LoL...thank you for the information, I am going to upgrade my entire fuel system. SS Lines, FPR, Fuel Rails and Injectors

Yes Intercooled

I wouldn't worry about the top end as much. Just find some cheap, used ported heads and whatever blower/turbo cam you want.

While its a 355, a guy on this board went upper 10s with a set of stock heads, stock cam and stock intake. Only upgraded the springs and rockers I believe. Let the boost do the work.

I know this guy.

Trick Flow makes a great head for the LT1 and I would talk to Comp about a cam. If you want some kickass heads, talk to AI.

Also, I would upgrade your single 255 to a dual or Aeromotive system.

But like 1bdbrd stated, the blower system itself will get you pretty far. And I wouldn't recommend a mail order tune unless you have a dyno to verify the air fuel ratio.

i am running a golen 383
http://www.golenengineservice.com/sp...3compscsb.html

Have a p1-sc w/8lbs
stock heads and cam. in the process of getting custom grind cam from comp cams and some RHS heads. I think that they are sister companies so i am getting the whole setup thru them with a 72cc combustion chamber to lower my compression down from 9.4:1 so i can run a smaller pulley for more boost.

Runs strong now the procharger system is very dependable.

You could consider going with TFS or AFR because both offer larger chambers than stock so you could lower the compression without changing the pistons.
