When do you start building boost?

When do you start building boost?
I finally got my car running right with the help of Ed at Va Speed, and I'm curious too see when everyone starts building boost and hit full boost. Preferably from the folks running off a 7lb spring.
I'd also like to hear from others, just state when you start building boost, when you hit moderate boost levels and then full boost.
Also could you say what trans and gears you have.

Really?, I do not find it hard to believe. My car is the same way. I am not running 11psi... Max of 9psi. My car laughs at lag, and I am pretty sure I hit full boost before a procharger kit does. At least I would not bet against it. The car makes the power that is to be expected as well.

Not trying to put down prochargers, because I do know they are a well built system. They have their advantages... even over any well built turbo system.

Wow... I did not really know that. I always get crap about how turbos have lag, and how I should have went with a supercharger because of it. Seems like procharger should be the ones that are branded with the lag tag. I always assumed that made full boost before redline... That does not seem very fun at all.

If I hold car at certain rpms and stab the throttle, I will make instant boost. No lag

Sorry, I was just trying to point out that turbos can rival superchargers in terms of time to make boost. Yes, I can make boost pretty much off idle. Is it like a whipple? I would not go that far, but you will not notice any lag in my car.

If we are both running 10psi and are rolling down the road at 6k rpms and we both punch it.....a supercharged car is going to instantly jump to almost full boost because impeller is already spooled because it is directly connected to crank....A turbo car will have some lag......depending on how it is set up will determine the amount of lag.

Havent driven mine a whole lot but mine looks like it starts making boost at 2800. My car is a 6 speed with an S-trim 76mm & .96AR. I have the lightest spring JGS makes in the gate but I have only seen 5lbs, I think it may make more but right now the the tires spin when boost comes on so I cant really say how much it will make yet. Supposed to be about 7# on the spring I have, also this is with a 26" streeet tire and 4.10 gears.

Takes me 1.7 seconds on average to go from 20" vac to 15psi in 2nd gear from a 65 mph roll. Full boost is in by 75 MPH.
Auto cars should really measure spool time in seconds vs RPM due to converter slip. By the RPM numbers my car makes 1psi at 3900 and 15psi at 5300 which sounds really bad. A .83 T67 will have about the same rpm spool RPM points as my 1.25 a/r SX80. It's very difficult to compare auto cars to manual cars in terms of spooling and feel.
Auto cars should really measure spool time in seconds vs RPM due to converter slip. By the RPM numbers my car makes 1psi at 3900 and 15psi at 5300 which sounds really bad. A .83 T67 will have about the same rpm spool RPM points as my 1.25 a/r SX80. It's very difficult to compare auto cars to manual cars in terms of spooling and feel.

** I am by no means slamming any supercharger**
but if a turbo guy can make "instant" boost at little to no rpms, why wouldnt they be mearly at full boost at 6k with the turbocharger. The comparison would be like using a 2 step on a turbo car going from a dig and having a blower car just floor it from a dig. not quite a good comparison, 6k rpm roll...
again, **I'm no genius nor am I trying to go against physics here or setups**
my M6 STS cam car would do pretty damn good from a 45-50 roll at 3500-4krpm in 2nd. boost was VERY quick to come on. I also have the coated and ported manifolds and wrapped exhaust. 7.5psi

I am not trying to bash turbos either....I have been in a turbo trans am, and it is faster than my car and builds boost fast.....but thats not the point....I am just saying superchargers have no lag
quick but not instant.....its just a different feeling when riding in each type of car

Have you got your VE table ironed out?
