good 408 F1R setup for 1000rwhp ??
I have done about 7 different 408, 440 and 454 lsx engines. I want a new setup so I just bought a F1R and intercooler then built a 408 short block with lunati pro billet rods, crank and a set of wiseco custom 22cc dish pistons....I would like some combinations that have made 1000+rwhp with a 408 I need head and cam options the most as all the past engines have been nitrous or big compression. I have built about 30 roots blown engines for boats but no procharged stuff so any nhelp would be great.....

What tranny are you running? Sadly, nobody that I know of has cracked 1Krwhp with an F1R. The problem seems to stem from the belt drive. The key is to get a reinforced steel bracket setup with a 12rib or preferrably cog drive setup to eliminate belt slip and bracket flex. With the right combo, you could be the first to crack 1K. I had an F1R but switched to an F2 to reach my goals. Shawn @ VA speed made my chromoly reinforced bracket cog drive setup. He's a sponsor----------> Good luck with the build.

Not a 402, but a 427, but that should not be a huge problem.

1000hp 408 is pretty easy.9-1/9.5-1 compression.A good set of heads,either tfs 235's or Performance Inductions 240's,and the right cam.I got a bunch or 1000+hp turbo 408's out there,and a few s/c ones as well

Well I haven't ever dynoed 1K, but I know it will do it. I am not haveing any issues with my F1R and my SDCE with an 8 rib belt. Showed about 23lbs on the 408 when I ran it a little lean and burnt a piston so GL not a hard thing really, but the main problem unless it is a track car is building a filter box due to the location being close to the fan shroud. Never really cared about having the dyno number to back it up as most of my runs are not at the track LOL!

I have about 240 cams on the shelf I have from various companies I have tested for I was considering this one 240/256 115ls with .648/.652 hydraulic of course I also have a vortech YSI I could use thats not mine...yet. heres what i was thinking the 408 with 9.1 compression the above cam a set of WCCH CNC'd L92 heads as I have 2 sets and yella terras a Victor Jr intake with elbow ? I have all this so it would be cheap for me the only other heads I have right now are a set of PRC stage 2 or 2.5 ls6 heads ? I have a 2000 camaro 9" 35 spline axles complete qa1 all the way around 3.90 gears and a Coan th400 and tight 4500 converter. I run 28x13.5 et streets car weighs 3300 with me in it. My goal is 8.90's and the car is a street...LOL car

My last 408 was nitrous 2 stages and put down 868 RWHP with 4.30 gears and a 4800 converter it ran 9.4X@14X, but Im tired of bottles and heaters and all that crap everytime I get the car out its a 2 hour process just to be sure I dont get caught with my poaint down. I do alot of street racin and maybe...maybe 1,000 miles a year on the car

both are equally important, you can have both of these wrong and still make great power-what you sacrifice is longevity of the engine, the whole key is to make the most power at the least amount of boost

I know the exhaust sucks but I have had great sucess with them with the right cam. I had a customers car I did with a pump gas 440 WCCH L92 heads and carb intake 3400lbs and ran 9.70's na with the right cam they do work I dont see how FI would be different you are just altering the atmospheric pressure ? I have 2" headers and do not run anything smaller than a 1 7/8 with them or the LS7 also I found they like about 12 degrees more exhaust duration than cathedral ports I was doing that nearly 2 years ago when everyone was scratching there heads and calling Patrick G for help on here. I have personally seen many LS7 headed cars with chargers that are very very impressive and the L92 is not to different ? is it ? look at race provens Z06 Ls7 with a YSI runs 8.90's pump gas ?

well I guess my 440ls7 will go in the car and I will run c16 that made 800 at the crank and with 200 nitrous should run 8.90's. I was hoping to throw together a cheap procharged setup with parts I have Im not buying another lsx block just to do this...I figured I could use the 408 I had sitting with some l92 heads and the F1R and if it breaks oh well but I dont want to be pushing water everytime out ?
