Default Updates on my YSi blown LT1

Some updates on my LT1 T/A with a vortech YSi. Made a dual plate setup for the blower to stop the flexing, i made the standoffs, spacers and plates on my small lathe. Added a Tial Q BOV in place of the vortech Mondo, no more problems with pipes blowing off and compressor surge. Also switched from a 30mm cog drive with 68/26 pullies and 3" single bearing tensioner that kept shredding teeth off the belts and was just not able to take the stress, to a 10-rib setup using a 7.8" crank which required some machining to work, 3.25" paxton dual bearing idler which is a manual tensioner, and a 3.12" blower pulley. Belt length ended up being 44.5" which is the only size available in that area, but it fits perfect with this pulley, i may be able to do a 2.95" on the blower the way i have it set up, or could go with the 3.33" if i wanted. I need to move the tensioner slot on the plate a bit to get extra adjustment for any more options.

And some idle vid with the BOV and a quick pull i made this afternoon. That BOV is ******* loud

one question, how tight is "tight" on the belt? is there a deflection spec for the span of the belt or what. I got it nice and tight, can still rotate it about 45* with my finger and no slip, that good enough? Dont want to put too much stress on the snout and front bearing

Rule of thumb is until you can only twist the belt vertical 90*. 45* only is pretty tight.

thanks! i figured that would be all right until it gets the initial stretch out of the way. I will just keep an eye on it for slip but i dont think it will be a problem

You're probably fine as you are once it stretches. Don't try to save the belt if it ever slips though (doubtful on your 10 rib), after mine slipped I tightened it more, next thing I knew is snapped the crank pulley off for the blower (balancer was still there) and left it on the highway.

What kind of boost are you seeing with that pulley combo? Also what kind of problems were you have with the Mondo Bypass valve. I am using the same one at 18 lbs and have not had a problem.

i havent really gotten it wound up yet, i have seen around 9psi on the guage, but i have a digital guage and its slow as **** to react. Im gonna put a regular guage in there for awhile and try it out, but there is no where to have any fun around here. What pulley setup are you running to get 18psi? link to some pics? My inlet pipe is just some dryer ducting, im going to make a nice 4" pipe shortly and expect to pick up another 1-2psi. As far as the mondo, the valve head was getting really loose, kept blowing the o-ring out of the stem, i just didnt want it on there anymore, plus the Tial Q flows 2x more air.

I am running a 75T Crank and 26 T SC pulley with 50mm wide belt. I made a 4" duct using a silicone cooling duct off an aircraft with 4" tubing for the inlet. Here are some pics.

I am seeing 18 lbs at 6200 RPM. I am redoing my fuel system right now as I am running out of fuel.

very nice, i expect to be around 16psi the way it sits. When i put my good heads on this winter i will go to a 2.95" blower to keep it around 14. Far as im concerned thats enough power for me, no need to have any more ill just start breaking ****

I want 800 rwhp. It has been harder than i thought to break that # with ported LT1 heads. I am getting ready to put on 230cc Trick Flow heads from TEA.

What are you running for ignition. I had problems with the opti at 15lbs of boost. I switched to a stand alone from Electromotive. it has been great.

Yeah, its hard to make power, im running unported stock 94 heads beleive it or not, just some comp 918s in them. Currently im running stock computer on a 2-bar SD, Delteq ignition setup. I have almost everything for a LSx ECM and coil on plug along with some hogged out 230cc Brodix Track 1s to go on this next winter, and inspect the bottom end. With those changes i should be at 750whp pretty easy and out of fuel. Thats enough, i could upgrade to the 79# injectors and do 800whp, but like i said, i will just start breaking **** BTW, where you shift at? i take it out to around 6800

I shift at 6000 right now since I am running out of fuel at 6500. I am running 65lb injectors w/ twin walbro 255's and meth injection. I am wondering if one of pumps has gone weak since those 255 should be enough to handle that power. Did you notice better drive ability with the speed density tune. What are you using to tune it. LT1 Edit?

How do you go about doing a speed density tune on a LT1. I am very interested in that.

have tunercats, what a POS pain in the ***, im used to LSx stuff with hptuners and this is retarded. It actually runs like **** cause i broke my laptop and just got it kinda close so far. Im running 65# and dual walbros as well, pump gas and nothing else. I can send you a copy of my SD tune to look at, its mostly rich everywhere so it should work for you decent. Just load it up, put a 2-bar sensor on the intake and thats it

Did you just turn the maf off and tune on the VE tables instead. If thats the case I should be able to figure that out. I am just having problems with the MAF sometimes when I am at lower speeds. Thought I might be able to tweak it better with speed density.

I should just get a FAST ecm or add the rest to Electromotive set up.
The LT1 ECM sucks.

yes, it sucks big time. That is the jist of it i guess, i have mine so it at least idles ok, have a lean spot at <5% throttle and then its rich everwhere else. its a bit of work but if you look at my file you would understand how to do it.

So i have this on a bunch of sites, and i have gotten some decent interest on making a couple of these, i was suprised. Anybody here that would be interested in a bracket it with pullies and belt, everything but the blower itself? What kinda price range would be expected?
Belt-$50
crank pulley-130
spacer-30
idler-80
blower pulley-95
=385
+shipping
=400 for pulley assembly, + some machining charge. I could do the complete pulley setup ready to bolt on (with ATI balancer) for $575 i think. Brackets i could have cut with spacers and all the bolts for probably $275.
