Default possible 6.0/PT88 setup, critque please.

was damn near set on ripping out my 346 throwing in forged pistons/rods and spraying it...after reading the build by 98Z28killer on here with his stock long block lq9 10lbs of boost and a PT88 I'm looking at going this way.

goals for this are to crack into the 8's on race gas, and then detune it for bottom 9 second passes. looking to run max 15 psi on the street. 20 or so @ the track.

Engine/Turbo

6.0 iron block
PT76GTS or PT88 the 76 is just alot smaller and easier to place. 3" piping 4" downpipe T4 flange, 60mm WG, reverse truck manifolds
not sure on exhaust...yet.
stock crank
4.00" bore
diamond custom pistons
callies compstar rods
cometic 0.41 gaskets puts SCR @ 8:75:1
dart 205cc heads 60cc chambers (for now, I already have these)
cam...not really sure on a good grind for a turbo car. any suggestions here?

rear would have 35 spline axles, spool, and a 3.30 gear, 28" MT drag radials, qa1's on all 4 corners, chassis mounted tq arm, etc. and a turbo 400 tranny.

would this get me to my goals, are there any glaring problems with this setup?

Do you have an aftermarket K-member?
That may be something to consider, as I dont know if there is room to run a 4" DP with the stock k-member.

I also personally like a bit more CR for a real street car, but thats up to you.

EDIT: I see you are in Cooper City?
Where about?
I live in SummerTime Aisles, off 100th and 52nd St.

Maybe you've seen my beat up Pewter Z28 with the Black top?

yeah aftermarket K-member will be a must, planning that, the BMR turbo K

I've been reading up on the high comp for boosted setups and it does seem that many people are running alot more compression now.

and then there are guys like mighty mouse who run 8:1 roughly and drive it every day, and are insanely fast.

car will never see race gas unless at the track...you know how hot it gets down here pump gas decent tune but get that one "bad tank" and I might bump it up a bit to around 9:1

small world I live off of Stirling in flamingo gardens, i have seen a pewter Z28

my car is hard to miss, red T/A, bullets dumped, on bigs and littles, USMC license plate.

You arent far from quoting my build specs... mine is a rearmount however... and I think we will see a 8.9 run when its all worked out.

I have seen a few of your threads awesome build for sure.

what heads are you running?

cam specs? (roughly if you wouldn't mind)

after more research I think I'm going to go with the 76GTS for packaging...it should still get me to my goals, and spool quick as all hell.

that i cant help ya out too much, im still on stock 317 heads and stock bottom end. I was gonna build my own kit but after pieceing everything together i was about $800 shy of getting his kit. So i said "**** it" and spent the extra $800 so i can be done with it! Good luck with your build, i would have built my own if my plate wasnt already filled with a ton of fab work!!

How much dish are you gonna run to get to sub 9:1 compression with that thin of a headgasket and only a 60cc head? That'd have to be in the 30's dish, right?

22cc dish for 9:1 w/ a 0.41 gasket. the darts have 62cc chambers, sorry. is that to much? the off the shelf diamond "forced induction" pistons are 28cc's.

the more and more I think about it the more and more I want to just throw in a stock lq9 like you did yourself...and build it later down the road, so much easier...or use the stock 317 heads and forged pistons/rods that would give me a dish piston of 13cc's w/ 0.41 gaskets, and the stock 70cc chambers.

question for you as well...with your setup, why did you pick that turbo location? what about where the battery is and relocating that? can you wedge the PT88 there? car would have a burkhart front end...

Chad
