Belt slippage a problem w/ low boost?

Default Belt slippage a problem w/ low boost?

If I ran an ATI with 4-6# of boost, would I have all the problems I have read about, mainly belt slippage? And, if I make 500rwhp, how much extra would that much boost give me?

If you are making 500 RWHP now, you probably have a high compression engine. You would likely have problems running over 5 PSI or so of boost anyway, without upping the octane a lot.

5 PSI for me (at 6000 RPMs) increased my RWHP by about 27% on an A4, which has more drivetrain losses.

I run a full eight pounds on my ATI D-1SC kit. I've never once had a belt slip, and I'm using only the parts that originally shipped with my kit. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones...

Hey LS1Bird, what size blower pulley are you running to get 8 lbs. Also, what kind of track numbers are you getting?

Also, how much timing are you running to get those HP numbers?

Hes running the tuner kit, with the 3.6" pulley....works fine on a stock car...

Bigbos, how did you know that?! It's correct - I'm running the tuner kit with the 3.6 pulley. My engine is completely stock, to include exhaust manifolds and cats. Injectors and plugs were changed of course. Stock clutch and 10-bolt rear too...

I'm only running 17 degrees at WOT. I tuned to the crap (oxygenated) 91 octane Bay Area fuel. Running real fuel, say 93, I could have squeezed a bit more timing in. I'm also running 11.x A/F, so I'm a bit on the conservative side.

But it still put down good numbers, and has never once hiccuped. I've not taken it to the track. I drag raced for years, and kinda got tired of how much it breaks the car. I don't meet much on the street that outruns me. Every once in a while, but not often....
